We all know there is a rivalry between chevy and ford guys, to what degree may vary but it is there nonetheless. I was just curious, what attitude do you guys have towards Mopars? I never really noticed anyone making sarcastic comments about them or bashing them. Should i have bad kharma for keeping my vette parked next to my dad's Cuda? Id like to see how some devoted chevy guys feel.
I have a 1938 Dodge Bros. Business Coupe in the stall right next to my '69 coupe, so personally I like them a lot (of course it does have a 350 HO deluxe Chevy crate motor and Z-28 4spd automatic in it).

Since you asked...
I am amazed at the prices Mopars bring, as am I amazed at the number of clones and fakes out there.
I get to attend Chrysler Carlisle every year and always walk away thinking "those (Mopar) guys are as nuts as we are" with the way they build and keep their cars. Driven a few including a Hemi and a Six Pack - would not mind having one. Love those colors, but then I also like Ontario Orange.
I really like them, and there are a few creeping around here that I would love to own. Personally, I've never been brand loyal...I like what I like regardless of the badge on the trunk. Saw this monster at a show a couple of weekends ago ...
My first car was a '71 'cuda and the only reason I sold it was it didn't have A/C which the '72 vette did that replaced it. I since have gotten 2 '70 'cudas that share garage space with the vette. Love 'em.
I don't mind a Ford or Mopar or even an AMC if it is well done and runs well. What I don't like is some overdone piece of crap that looks rediculous, regardless of brand. I have seen some pretty bad Chevys as well as Ford and Mopars.
The design of the 340 engines, specifically crankshaft placement, is really quite good. A very good revver, which fits in well with being a chevy fan. I like the 383 as well. I'd like to get one, but for the price, I could get another vette, which comparatively, can ride rings around those old solid axles. Then you look at the price for modding out a small block chrysler
SBC are a heck of a lot cheaper to build and mod out, unless you have very good connections.

My first job
The first time I worked as a mechanic at least - was at a Mopar dealer in Tempe, Ariz. I was fresh outta high school and those Hemi Cudas were the stuff! I can remember the test drives. Awesome when they were new! A few years before that, a neighbor had a '69 GTX white over navy blue. Absolutely gorgeous car. Yep they were all around me but I never owned one. Drooled over a few. Five years ago when I worked at The Dyno Shop some of my favorite days were MOPAR Saturdays when the clubs would come in and I'd see AAR Cudas and lots of Hemi's. Wow.
I've only been out of high school for 2 years, but it got me thinking about the drive. When i drove my vette to school, people would generall say thats a pretty cool car, and i loved driving it. But i can remember once in a while bringing the cuda to school. It was a cool car, but moreover that baby commanded respect. I think the mopars are some of the machoest cars out there. I guess theres just something about being thrown back in the seat of your pants by almost 2 tons of american metal that is exhilerating. Just my opinion. Either way, that sure was an intimidating car to learn how to drive, nothing like a high power 3 speed on a rainy day.

i couldnt have put it any better. i love fords, mopars, and corvette's oops i mean Chevys i know its not a very good picture but my all time favorite car would have to be my buddies 1966 mustang fastback. please dont ban me for posting this picture and saying what i just said
As a teenager in the late 60's early 70's mopar rocked. Myself and all my friends owned Cuda's, GTX's, Roadrunner's, Challenger's, Duster's, GTX's and Dart's except one friend. He owned a 69 455 Trans Am Firebird and would whip our a$$ every single nite no matter what we tried. I think Mopar had the best muscle cars in design and price. But the damn 455 T/A Bird is a subject we still talk about over a few beers everytime we all get together. Funny thing, most of us now own Vettes, and the guy who owned that T/A that whipped are butts on a dark cool summer road, owns 2 Vettes. (58 & 64)
P.S. Guess who shames who now.. My kids call me a 'Seenager" (Senior-Teenager) now..

What I always loved was the PAINT! And that the whole underbody and underhood was color. Great effect. And of course, that you could burn rubber as long as your foot was in it without even working the Mopar torque monsters.

It just dawned on me that there's people with money on this here Forum. I'm just not one of them.
Anyway, when I was in high school in the early 70's, the car I wanted was a red 340 Duster. My Dad bought a slant-6 Gold Duster instead. My best friend in 12th grade bought a new '74 340 'Cuda with the pistol grip shifter. He immediately put Keystone mags on it. Have no idea what he did with the original stock wheels, which I liked a lot. We went to the Prom in that car (no smart emails please - we each had female dates). I should get in touch with him and find out if he has another one since he's a CPA. I'd love to show him my Vette. Someone I know at work has a '73 340 'Cuda, dark green w/black stripe, original paint, interior, motor, etc. Dosen't look too good but hey, it's a 340 'Cuda. Maybe it's for sale!
I like the old Mopars. I had a cherry 67 cuda that I was going to build till I looked into the cost of doing so. Mopar parts are sky high for what you get in the end. Plus I feel the Chevy is really a better setup both in price and availability of parts and performance. So I guess I took the bumb rout and went CORVETTE lol.
Here is the worst part lol. I sold the cuda for 14oo.oo to a young guy that was just drooling so I thought it would have a good home. It had 42000 on the OD and garage kept since new same paint even the orig spare tire. except the driver bucket was redone as stock and you could not tell it was done. The owner told me he did it because he was dumb lol and left a screwdriver in his back pocket when he jumped in the car.
Mopars are fantastic!
When I was a kid, my grandfather used to let me hang with him at work (Franklin Racing) while building cars like SWAMP RAT for Garletts and others for Dick Landy and the like. Most of my auto projects were Mopars. My favorite was a 73 Sattelite with a warmed over 452 (440 bored) with about 425HP at the rear wheels, naturally asperated and no bottle.
I'm not a huge fan of the old ones...but the Hemi Cuda is pretty cool! An I sort of like the ugliest of 'em all, the Superbird and Daytona
But I really appreciate the new line of Muscle cars they are producing, viper- a brutal monster, the Chrysler 300- big car looks cooler than other big sedans and is plenty fast, the Charger- A 300 that the rest of us can afford, the Magnum- some hate, but I think its really cool!
