Default How should I handle this?

I had to get my windshield replaced due to some chips and cracks. I found a local company that comes to you house and does it there and the price wasn’t too high either.
Two guys show up in a van, the moment I opened the garage the two guys didn’t seem to like me at all. They made comments about me being a silver spoon baby and a snob…..I was like WTF I haven’t said more than hello to them. They take out the old windshield and install the new one and leave. After they were gone I realized that they broke the exterior trim piece that goes across the top of the windshield and I found a line of that black rubber cement that they used across the bottom of my interior rear view merrier.
How should I handle this? The black rubber cement cleaned right off but the trim piece will not snap back on b/c they broke the clips. . I called the companies office and in so many words they told me to go F my self. Do I make a big deal about this or just bite my tong and eat the cost of replacing it?

depends on the cost of the repair is it worth the agrivation i mean if its a 20 dollar fix its not worth it to me might be to you or to just prove a point to them if its alot to fix you should force them to repair it

Lifes too short. Use the time you would have spent chasing these guys and take a nice long cruise and enjoy yourself.

I would have told them to leave as soon as they started making comments like that...there are other windshield companies out there.

That being said, since they are being so unreasonable, do you really want to keep on dealing with them over a broken trim piece? I would just buy a new one and let it go. If you are that pissed then contact the BBB and let them know about your experience with these idiots.

Report them to your local Better Business Bureau...then fix it yourself...best way to handle this..do it in writing..you might find they are not members of the BBB.....do they have a web site?

I would pursue it with the BBB. Those clips are mounted under the glass so the windshield has to come out again for their replacement and for the trim piece to attach properly.

take pictures, fix it yourself or bring it to someone competent and send them the bill. If they don't pay you can go to small claims court. Its not necessarily worth the time but good experience if you ever need to make a bigger claim in court another time. Its easy and fun to be your own lawyer.

You really don't want these guys touching your car again, expecially when they're pissed off.

I don’t care totally about the money I’m just pissed that I paid these guys to replace my windshield and now have to pay someone else to come out and fix what they screwed up. Mostly mad about the aggravation and time already spent on this.

If you've got a really nice restored car, usually you get positive responses from strangers. However, there a few people who get, as was the case here, angry and/or jealous. It's as if they think that you're just some wealthy phony guy who is trying to show off.

They don't realize that people like me have been coming to work for the last two years with dirty fingernails and spend a lot of time laying on my back on cold concrete banging my knuckles, etc. Also, as for the wealth situation, I have not yet bought a Corvette that cost more than $15,000 (my 70).

I remember once I was having trouble shifting my newly installed Richmond. I was driving my 69 L88 clone, with Hooker Headers, and I was far from home. I pulled into a transmission shop and asked it they would put it on a lift and check out the shifter linkage. It was a really clean car. The shop owner made some derrogative comments about my car and and me basically told to me to get lost. I drove home about 40 miles in second gear!

It's unfortunate that sometimes people just plain suck. I agree with pretty much all of the above, just buy the new clip and never give them your business again.

Do a big nasty burnout in the front of there place of business. Maybe not such a good idea, but I'm positive you'll feel better till the blue light pops up behind you.

I love your approach on this problem! I'm just the type of person who would do the same, schedule a glass replacement and not be there.

A nice little trick to get back at a penny pinching sleaze bag company is to get about 8 or 9 sheets of black letter size paper. Tape them together in a long strip. Insert on end into a fax machine and advance the paper enough to tape the ends together to make one continuous long loop of paper. Now wait till the glass company is closed and fax them the loop of black paper. Thier fax machine will try to copy your black loop of paper and you can burn out their toner cartrige ever night you choose to repeat this; Only thing they will find in their fax machine in the morning is a large stack of black copied papers and an empty toner cartridge. Gets pretty pricey replacing them toner cartridges.
