In the attached photo, notice the position of the driver's-side mirror. It doesn't appear to have been hit (no marks, cracked fiberglass, etc.) If I remove the door panel and loosen the nuts, , can I straighten it out? At first glance, it would seem it goes where it goes. Any ideas?
My driver's side mirror tips in like that. I compromised a bit on the positioning to cover up the unpainted spot under the old chrome mirror, and I think the "arm" is bent a bit. I have a different one, but haven't had time to paint it and the bare spot on the door.

Hey Jim,
I had this same problem with my '78, although it was on the passenger side, there is a plastic spacer between the mirror assembly and door, if you look at it closely, It is thicker on one side than the other, the thicker side needs to be on the top, On mine's it was put on upside down by the previous owner, I took the mirror off and reversed the spacer, and now as level as can be.. I sure that's the same problem you have...
Thanks, CF. You were right on the money. I had given that rubble gasket a cursory check but, just looking down at it, it seemed to have uniform thickness all-around. Bent down and really looked at it and, bingo!, someone installed mirror with thick side down. Now, have to figure out out to remove door panel (what to do with the armrest door lock?) and I'll be in business.
Thanks again,
Jim
