I would imagine that the current 505HP is maxing out the capacity of the stock drivetrain. An additional 100hp will surely require major upgrades if they plan on offering a factory warrranty.

I'll never be able to afford a $100,000 Corvette, but I would enjoy being part of the club that will blow the doors off the competition at a fraction of the price.

From p13 of the latest Corvette Quarterly:

"...To further prove the cars mettle, C6R racing driver Jon Magnussen and corvette development engineers also tested a production Z06 at the famed Nurburgring racetrack in Germany in late June. When the dust settled, the Z06 managed the second quickest lap time ever recorded for a street legal car at the course, bested only by the Porsche Carrera GT, a $440,000 605-hp roadster. The corvette Z06 lapped the track from a standing start in 7min., 42.99 sec., while the Porsche used a flying start to manage a lap time in 7 min., 32.44 sec., according to Nurburgring published data."

Funny you should use the word "flying".... The picture in Corvette Quarterly shows the Z06 completly airborne.

I don't know the exact specs, but the springs are what would be considered stiff street springs, the shocks are Bilstein Sports.

The front sway bar is stock or maybe slightly larger and it's connected with hiem jointed links. There is also a spreader bar.

There is no sway bar in the rear, but I do have the Guldstrand 5-bar rear suspension.

Guldstrand did all the suspension work. I told them I want it as good as it can possibly be.

I think that pic was turn 9 at willow springs. I was very happy with how the car handled that day. All I would want to change is the front alignment, I think more camber would have helped on the track, but on the street it would wear the tires too fast.

I also need to balance the brakes better, at one point (turn6, a very unstable area if you don't do it just right...and I didn't) I came upon some slow C5s and hit the brakes too hard , the rears locked and I spun out... As soon as I was relieved that I didn't run into them I sudden saw another group of C5s comming at me!! I was sideways on the track and the ar had stalled. Thank God the C5s have traction control and ABS!!! I got it started and off the track and finished the lap. no harm done..... well my tighty whities weren't so white any more

Default Jeff Gordon in a Z06

"SPEED Channel enlists help of NASCAR star Jeff Gordon for Corvette Z06 test drive

Four-time NASCAR Cup champion Jeff Gordon gets behind the wheel of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at Road Atlanta with SPEED Channel's popular Test Drive program and host Tommy Kendall on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. ET."

Hopefully Jeff drives this car as hard as he did when he drove Montoya's F1 car.

The REAL question is, will it be at CruiseIn VII??

By the way, Doug Duchardt gave a talk at my school (UNC-Charlotte) Thursday. He's current VP of Development at Hendrick, ex-head of GM motorsports. He was a very interesting guy but unfortunately, having left in January of this year, was unable to comment on the Corvettes newest developments! I asked him what he drives, he said Hendrick gives them so many free Chevrolets but the Corvette was not on that list, he currently has a Suburban but is going to get the Trailblazer SS with the Vette engine

I told him that as Corvette driver and enthusiast it is great to see the program doing so well. He saw them to their LeMans victories, not including 2005 of course, and in his earlier role as "engine guy" helped develop the LS1!!
