Default crate life?

I might have access to a crate motor. It was supposed to go into a Camaro 3 years ago. I don't have any specs on it yet. Before I got all excited about it I wanted to know if I'll have any problems with it sitting for 3 years. The warranty is obviously a loss. Cost I was told was about 4500. Anything I should look for? Am I waisting my time?

$4500 seems like a lot for a motor that has been sitting for three years. Especially when you don't even know the specs.

That's what he paid for it at the time. Again this is second hand so I'm waiting for all the info.

You need to get the specs to compare with what's available new....there's going to be depreciation on a 3 year old unused crate motor....

.....what he paid for it is irrevelant.....it's what it's worth on today's market.....you're the buyer and for that kind of money you've got plenty of options.......for $4500k you can buy a substantial motor...brand new with a warranty...

...so get the specs and Good Luck

check it first, could not agree more! Was it properly protected from the elements?

Just got the latest Summit catalog, and GMPP 330 HP/350 CI is a reasonable $2400. In the same section, a low compression 454 @ 425 HP was just over $4500.

Default Thanks a bunch

Great information people, thanks. I'll check on how the engine was stored. I'll be checkin prices on similar built blocks as well.
