Mine has always run. After my wife found a broken distributor wire and Lars hit it with his magic hammer it has been running great. Just trying to find an extra 10 FT/LBs of Torques and 24 HP and then I will be happy.
Besides a mans got to have a hobby. It is better to be in the garage with a wrench in your hand then on the couch with a beer in your hand!

i have had great success over the past three years...only one stranding ...of course it was at night in the rain 30 miles from home....this was from a broken rocker arm due to fatigue and then the drivers power window crapped out at the same time....
I have owned my car for 23 years. In the first 22 years here is what it needed: 4 calipers, 2 master cylinders, 1 set of brake pads, 6 tires, 1 tune-up, numerous oil changes, about 5 batteries, upper radiator hose, 1 rear spring, and about 6 bottles of radiator sealer. The car has been close to trouble free.
About a year ago I started rebuilding the suspension, front and rear. After getting the items removed, the rubber bushings were still in decent condition. Rebuilt the brake system, power steering components. Will be putting in a new engine and radiator. Hopefully I'll go another 22 years with minimal maintenance.
53,000 all original miles and it starts everytime. No problems yet and I drive it to work everyday that it doesn't rain here (about twenty days a year).
That's a tough one. Our 82 starts and runs like all our other vehicles. I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross-country. Yeah, it has a yet undiagnosed noise in the rear, but it has been there forever(4 years), so just a normal winter maintenance project, I hope. I have had more things go wrong with our Camry, Silverado (lo-mi), and Explorer (super hi-mi) - but nothing major. Go look at ANY forum for any brand or model and you will go paranoid. When you figure how many C-3's and other cars are out there, there really isn't much going wrong with our cars. Consider how many of them are driven, and how many have "storage diseases", and how old they are. What do you consider problems and what do you consider required mainenance issues caused by normal usage and time? Everyone I know with a Vette of any age is constantly working on it - not necessarily fixing anything.
Had mine 36 years...have a loose leaf book 3" thick with repair bills...probably spend many times the $4600 it cost new Maybe 10x..but I still love those last 187000 last miles
