Door Panels
I just got my new door panels for the 77, I am going to change the trim over and was looking for any comments or tips on this. As most of you know most of the trim swap is straightforward. But what about the door handle trim parts with the rivets?
Grind them off drill and reinstall with self-tapping screws and a washer?
Thanks Steve

Not sure this will help..I have a '79 and this reply was posted for me a few days ago.

Lower edge of carpet is sewn to vynal...vynal is wrapped under the bottom of panel and stapled to door panel on the back side. Top edge of carpet is held on by chrome strip. Don't know what others have done about replacing JUST the carpet...I actually sewed mine back onto the old vynal then re-stapled...but carpet with vynal already attached is available through catalog vendors.

Just in case you want to do something easier, you can pop off the soldered-on washers on the back side of the door handle trim and simply use J-B Weld to hold the piece onto your new panel. I did it and it worked terrifically. I figured that if I ever got new door panels AGAIN, I'd buy the new trim pieces anyway, so future removal was not a question.
