Part#s for a 71 Vette
Solid Spicer SPL25-1X U-Joints for Drive Shaft
Solid Spicer SPL30-1X U-Joints for Half-Shafts
These are Spicer Life Solid U-Joints. Call a local drive-shaft shop they should have them in stock and have them install, can save you time and prevent you from damaging the flanges and yokes. Don't ask me how I know. My local shop only charged $7.50 per u-joint to swap out.

The Spicer #'s I have are 5-799x for the 1/2 shafts, the Driveshaft could be 1 of 2 sizes.
5-790x is for the early automatics and 75+ 4 spds.
5-785x is for the early 4 spds. It is smaller then the 790x.
Here's a picture of the tool I make too.

I think there are new new cross reference numbers for Spicer Life solid U-joints.
SPL 22-1X for old 1310 (used on early shark and C2 drive shafts)
SPL 25-1X for old 1330 (used on later 71 on I believe drive shafts)
SPL 30-1X for old 1350 (used for half shafts)

Yes it holds the flange secure so it doesn't bend if you press them on/off.
