Default Mark IV Blocks

Is there a difference between a BBC Mark IV block and a standard BBC block. Are all BBC blocks the same when adding accessories like water pumps and fuel pumps.

Mark IV is the "standard block". It was used from 1965 until early 90's. New blocks are GEN V and GEN VI.

Mark IV come in many different flavors. Short deck and tall deck (big truck). Also the different castings have different max cylinder diameters. A 396 block cannot be bored out to the 454 bore (4.25") for example. If you're looking at used blocks the best thing is to get the casting number and check it at www.mortec.com.
