If you don't/can't enjoy the '72, sell it to someone who will/can. Use the proceeds to buy something you CAN enjoy. If that's a C6, fine. If it's a boat, fine. If it's a new kitchen, have at it.
I grew up surrounded by Corvettes that never got driven for various reasons. It's a shame to watch them deteriorate over time.
Just be sure you don't make the decision for the wrong reasons. Regret is a hard thing to live with.
Well said.
Just to further pile on, if you sell the C3, it's unlikely (i.e. very expensive) you'll ever find another one as documented and complete as the one you have.
Three years from now, you'll be able to find that C6 Z06 that somebody stuck away in a garage with 700 miles on it, and get it for $20K under sticker.
This is tough advice to accept so do so at your own risk. This is from a guy married coming on 18 years so I have the "marks" to back up my free advice.
Go find a late model C5 at a screming deal. You can find them so don't worry about that part. The harder part is: JUST BUY IT! Don't tell her, she'll get over it and some of the others have said, odds are that once she drives in it, it will become HER car! Even if it doesn't work quite like that, she'll get over it and you'll be a happy camper. Just remember, it's got to be a screaming deal.....that's your justification for just buying it!

That's how I acquired my Vette and Mustang. My wife was kicking and screaming all the while.
Well, after much debate and soul searching, I'm going to go in the direction of the C6 ..
AND over this !
I can't have both - and I have had the 72 for almost 4 years and enjoyed it very much.
I love old cars but really want a car that can go further than 190 miles on a tank of gas and can fit more than 1 dufle bag of luggage...
Could you'all give me some real $$ figures for the car.
I was thinking 35K just based on how damn original and documented the car is.
Feedback is welcomed.
Once I have heard from you'all I am going to post the car in the "for sale" section of the forum. Maybe even in the Deals on Wheels website, etc...
PS .. if I just went out and bought a used C5 .. divorce city! seriously !
The fun part is driving the C3...I use mine as a daily driver during the Spring-Middle Fall months. I don't sweat the hot interior...actually side pipes remove a ton of floor pan heat. But, if you're not comfy driving it, and sweat the heat, by all means, sell it. You should get more for your ride than the cost of a new C6. And each year your C3 just goes up in value...BTW, what HP is the 454? 390?
Better yet, if you want to have some fun...drive the 72, all shined up to your local Chevy dealer and park the ride where the sales peeps can see it...when they come over as you're looking over a C6, tell them you're interested and will offer your 72 even up...
I never thought about calling Proteam ...
If anyone will pay the $$$ I'm asking its going to be them...
BTW .. I tried the Chevy dealer approach -- I had the owner of Champion chev. in Tallahassee look at the car - but he gave me the run-around on pricing. Told him I wanted to even swap or swap + some cash. It did not sell to well, but it was also nearly a year ago.
Lots has changed in the old Vette market since then.
May be time for another trip to the dealer and see if I can pull something off.
...Bill, I can relate-I've had those thoughts too on getting "a new" Corvette-last week even e-mailed Les Stanford about a C6 they had and also Kerbeck's-even CALLED a saleman "over there". I could afford a C6, just not really sure I want to spend that much. They are quite a chunk of change just for "a car". Took my '75 out with my two year old granddaughter(who rides with me when I watch her)and I asked her if I should get a C6 and she said "nope" in her own way, so I guess I've kinda dropped it for now.

If you are gonna let it go, have the car professionally appraised, and use that as a reference, but i would imagin that car could demand anywhere from 40 to 70k depending, and if you go the some of these crazy auction sites you could proably double it
Hate to se you let it go, but gotta do what you gotta do
wish i had the loot to get it my self, you dont do lay away do you
