Ive done donuts with slicks at 6500 rpm and my rear end is still there. I doubt that was the smartest thing to do. I need to take aprt the rear end anyways. I figure I want some carnage to look at after I take it apart .

That is a far cry from rebuilding the whole rear end or putting a Ford 9" tractor axle in the damn thing. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Less worry warting time.....more seat time. Get out there.
Well, since this thread is solidly hijacked, we might as well continue. I've looked a thread that you started "road course Junkies" and I think I understand our differneces of opinion...

Lapping days are NOT racing though mistakes or failures can and will kill you just the same. They ARE good places to get seat time and work on your skills. I encourage everyone to participate and keep the nonsense off the streets. Granted ALL of my racing experience is on 2 wheels and I have no national podium finishes. I do have district and regional podiums and wins.

In my experience racing requires a lot more preperation time, maintnenace time, and attention to detail than jumping into a car and flogging without being practical it because a good driver can recognize a problem and pit before he hurts Himself, another driver, or a spectator, or...

I'll bet the sanctioning organizartion you run with has a rule book, saftey requirements, and a tech inspection before thy will even let you on to the track.

A guy asked a question and I answered it with my opinion, I'm sorry if you didn't like it.

Oh I forgot one detail, maybe drifting isn't racing.

I don't think it is racing. They give you style points and points for how much tire smoke you create. I don't think the speeds are that high.

I think the average joe's like us can take our cars out and have fun without having to bring a pit crew trailer and 10s of thousands in spares and equipment. I'd like to see more people flog C3s, so i won't discourage anybody.

when you gonna put yours on a track?

Just my .02 on this. To me do what ever makes you happy and above all have fun. If you want to drift a C3 take a shot at it. Any weak points will show up and then you just work through them. Another point was made is to just get some C3's out there in the public eye. Who knows it might start a trend. . Could you just imagine a bunch of Big Block C3's with open side pipes drifting talk about tire smoke and thunder the ground would shake. Those poor rice drivers would not know what to do lol.

I try to do one event a month on the bike...

I have a Glenn Region SCCA schedule right here, I'll likely hit the May 7th Solo outing cause it's at a parking lot at work, use it to see how well I have read the rules in preparation and what class to run, then do the school at Seneca Army Depot May 20th/21st and go from there if I like it.

My C3 is pretty hard to drift. Once it starts stepping out, you have to correct it pretty quickly, or it's not coming back. That could probably be changed with some suspension tuning and less aggressive tires, but I'm not sure.

Surprisingly, my old Mercedes 300E drifts amazingly well. I took it to an autocross once, and since I was doing so poorly, I just decided to have some fun sliding it through all the corners. It took absolutely no effort to keep it sideways for as long as I wanted. I think the open differential might have contributed to that.
