Are these guys on the level or are they full of $hit?Over the weekend I ordered a right window regulator from them. This part from the dealer complete is $350,GM PARTS shows the same part at list price same as the dealer but with the discount its $235.I get an email from them today stating the motor is not included with the regulator. So if this is the case, once I find the motor this regulator will be alot more than if I had gone to the dealer.I hope someone on there end made a mistake here.
GMPartsDirect has good prices but they add a lot in shipping. Their profit is all in the "shipping charge". Unless you have jobber discount at your GM dealer, GMPartsDirect will usually come out cheaper.
1. Although they have that really cool name, "GMpartsdirect" they are just a GM dealer like any other dealer, so don't think you are buying direct from the factory.
2. Their business model is to charge a very low price and add on very high shipping/handling charges. This confuses many people and makes them think they are getting ripped off. I honestly think this is not their intent. Whatever, they are fine to deal with as long as you the customer figure out exactly what you are getting and what your total all-in price is.
3. They have a very useful online database. You can search for a part by part number and the database gives you the GM wholesale and retail price. Armed with this information you can often negotiate a better price with your local GM dealer parts department.
I have bought a few small parts from them over the years and have been happy.
I just used them for a grille surround on my 72 pickup. It was a tremendous savings from what my local chevy dealer was going to charge. $ 379 vs $573 plus tax. Also, don't park behind your wife and forget to tell her, it was all my fault.
