1. My daughter turns 16 in May...she's a good "newby" driver but she is not driving either of my vettes!
2. Z06's wreck pretty good, I'm amazed no one got hurt!
3. ...so that's what the bottom of a Z looks like, all smooth...
4. Wonder if he's going to part it out?
Leaving the keys to your vette lying around w/teenagers is like leaving a loaded gun in the house.
I use the quick disconnect on my battery when ever I'm not using my vette. I have a teenage son w/a lot of friends who like my vette way too much. Those kids & that dad should be thanking the big guy for letting them walk away from that one. Says alot about the Z06 to.
oh come on, not all of us are that bad.
actually... wait. i no longer qualify as a teen even still, i started driveing my dads 69 vert (mine when i turn 21) since a little after i got my liscense. turned 18, got my liscense, and in under 5 months i had my name on the insurance and my own set of keys. no need to ask permission or anything, just hop in and go.
i basicly learned how to drive a stick on that car. i drove his old POS 85 S-10 blazer for 2 weeks, but it had a clutch with 300K miles on it. needless to say it didnt exactly act like most clutches.
some kids are just stupid!! i got my first vette at 18, i am now 20 and own a 96 LT4. I respect the power it has and behave on the streets! If i wanna have fun i find a empty parking lot!
When I was in the Ames, IA corvette club, we had a presentation about a time when a guy's 18 year old son took the 1995 vette without permission, picked up his girlfriend and decided to go for a drive. A very fast one. When he left the road, he was travelling at over 140 mph. He did not survive, but his girlfriend did. The insurance did not cover the car, and the family is still making payments on it. They now use it to go around and give talks on driving at unsafe speeds. I do believe that the son had been drinking as well. Very sad story.
I'm happy to hear that this one isn't sad, except for the vette. I suspect that the father is screwed on insurance. The college fund will probably be lightened.
