Default Rear end decoding?

Where can I get info online about the rear end codes stamped on the case? I did a google but couldn't find anything.

In addition to that question.......

Where is the code stamped?

Can you see it by looking under there, or is it hidden by a spring or something?

I'd like to confirm what my '69 has. My guess is 3.36 posi, but I don't know for sure

Thanks!

Allen,
The code you want is stamped on the bottom, between the strut mount and the spring.

Here you go.

This page shows the various numbers for 1970.

These show what they looked like on my diff...
It's hard to read these things. I had to brush mine off with a wire brush before I could read them. The letters are shallow. Mine are 2 CAM 3-26-70 W. This stands for 3.36:1, positraction, March 26, 1970 - Warren plant.

You have anything for 1969 or would they be the same?

I think I found it. The '69's are the same except without the first letter "C."

in the time it takes to jack up your car, climb under and clean the crud off you could spin a wheel and count the revolutions of the driveshaft...the ONLY real way to tell what gear you have considering how many Corvette differentials have had a gear change!!

Len,
Wouldn`t it be easier to post the code you are looking for and ask someone decode it for you?? Those codes are listed in the front of the GM parts counter P&A/30-B

I'm not looking for one in particular, just wanted to confirm one I ran accross. I don't want to ask anyone to decode each time I find one.
