Default Gas Prices

Since most of our cars don't get the best gas mileage, do you think prices will hit the roof this summer, if this happens.

Yup they are conditioning us now to make us think that (here in Canada) a $1.26 a litre for 91 octane is a good price because by the mid of summer it wil be probably around $1.47 for the same 91.

Blame Bush, Blame OPEC, Blame the oil companies, Blame ourselves, blame big tobacco, blame American Idol, but stop whining! Our country uses almost 400 million gallons of gasoline every single day! 30 years ago we had cheap little cars that got 40 miles per gallon. Do you care? It'll cost ya $30 in fuel to cruise 100 miles in your big block C3. That's not a bad way to spend a Sunday. A psychiatrist would charge $300 an hour and not even come close to the stress release of a day of CCRFT (classis corvette right foot therapy).

I blame Jimmy Carter.

I paid $3.05 a gallon for 97 octane yesterday.

I perdicted last year we would see $5 a gallon by the end of 2006. I hope I'm wrong !

I agree....we can't whine about the price of gas driving around in 25+ yr. old 350s! The C5s get as good as 34 mpg! Econo cars! Life sucks I may have to burn regular to do burn outs!

I read an interesting point on the gas prices (not that I think the fule companies are f'ing us some) but if you cost adjust the price of gas from 1965 and adjust it for inflation, we are paying below the normal amount of inflation for the price of gas. We still are cheaper than most of the world. When I was in the UK in 1999, they were paying about $1.10 p/litre or $4.40 a gallon. We also use the biggest chunk of gas in the world. Now my personal opinion is we need to get off of gas and stick it to the Arab world. If they don't have money they can't buy thier little bombs and that's how we beat 'em! I think GM has the right approach with the E85 vehicles......we screw the oil producing nations and take care of our own farmers at the same time. Beyond that hydrogen cells could really put a nail in their coffin! The hybrids.....losers, unless they can get the price down. For what you have to pay for a hybrid you can buy a hell of a lot of gas. If we could get moving on this solutions quickly, you would see the price of a barrel of oil plummet.

Why feel sorry for the oil companies? Why blame our country because we use so much? Check out the oil companies quarterly profits!! I remember last fall a member of congress threatening to investigate big oil after ExxonMobil declared a $1 Billion dollar profit for the previous quarter. I am not in favor of having government in our private businesses but when a couple of companies are robbing our county and manipulating us it really burns my rear. I suppose the answer here (since nothing will be done about the problem) is to buy stock in oil companies.

I'm in Southern California, and in the last 3 days gas has gone up 25 cents!! It was $2.99 on monday, and it's $3.21 now! (for premium)

I hope we are all wrong about the prices hitting $5 too, but I doubt we are

If we want to bomb any body it should be the Indians and the Chinese. Their increased demand for oil over the past decade is what id driveing the price up. If we reduce the number of Chinese and Indians that use gas the demand will go down, hence the price. But I dont want to be responsible for doing it.
