Who gives a S**T about gas prices ?!!!
We drive corvettes fellas.
Spending a few dollars extra comes with the package.

You don't see Harley Davidson Fatboy owners complaining about their rides versus 250 cc suzuki bikes, just because they are more economical.

Small price to pay for being a member of this club.

Please come back and say that again when you pay close to 8$ a gallon...I can assure you, it has a profound impact on your hobby You can feel the black hole in your wallet sucking down the money everytime you step on the go pedal.Filling up the tank for 100+ $ is NOT fun.

Of course, my wife drives a hybrid, so it makes up the difference. I know they're not corvettes, but they are not bad cars to drive. No, you don't plug them in. Yes they can go fast (I know mine goes at least 90 mph). And yes the Toyota ones really do get 45-50 MPG in the city and about 35-40 on the highway. I've heard the Honda ones are chit, but no experience with them. I don't think that they are that overpriced at $25,000, a little, yes, but worth it. I'm not saying I'll ever choose it over the vette to drive b/c of the mpg, but it's nice to have.

I don't blame the oil companys if they could produce for less they would. think of it this way if a company could sell gasoline at $2.00 a gal. than the $3.00 who would sell the most gas? it's the law of supply and demand.

Then you don't have a clue how the oil market works, the oil companies are not each others competitors like you see in other areas of a commercial market economy. Oil prices are determined by speculants that drive up the price, they drive up the price by speculating on the sale price of a barrel of crude oil, this means that every little thing that makes the speculants nervous jacks up the price...the oil price is very quick to react to global news but when it peaks because of that it only slowly drops back if the reason for unrest is invalid and it hardly ever falls back to the old level. Oil companies are not trying to sell you your gas at the lowest price, they are all about making as much profit on each gallon as they can..why else do you think they all made record profits last year.

Let me do the math for you...

I fill $20 every week. I don't care if it is $30 a week, it is worth the fun I have driving it and the rumble it makes and the appreciation of people who see it. I Drive my vette 2 times a week to work. I then use it once on the weekends for a long drive and I work and pamper it on sunday mornings for an hour or two.
It may give low mileage, but If i was only concerned about mileage I would not have bought it would I ??

If $8 a gallon for gas makes you sell off your vette, so be it, but I will still be driving mine and enjoying every minute of it...

let me do some math for you then, assuming your gas is around 3$ a gallon (no idea how much you pay), that means that for your 20$ you get about 6,7 gallons.. now if your gallon cost 8$ you don't pay 30$ but close to 54!

So, if you fill up for 20$ then...you get a whopping 2.5 gallons... I hope you have a rear window defogger for warm hands and you like to excercise because pushing ain't fun! 2,5 gallons gets you nowhere.

I never said I would sell my vette, I'm paying close to 8$ already (but the vette doesn't drive, my stepside truck does and it's just as thirsty)

What I'm trying to bring across here is, you can all say you won't care how much gas costs...I can assure you, it is a huge impact on your finances. Go for a cruise on a nice day and you will blow 100$ on gas easily. Imagine that, take your car for a spin 3 times a week and a nice new set of headers up in smoke, do it for a month and bye bye nice new set of aluminium heads.....

$20 - $30 a week gets me 3 days driving time when I need it and considering i spend $15 atleast once a week at lunch time, I don't see the big deal. Gas used to cost less than a dollar 5 years ago, people still had the same cars then that they do now, but they buy more expensive gas...

It really doesn't matter. If it really gets you so down that you have to pinch pennies, I suggest you try earning more.

Actually I do understand where youre coming from, I've visited Holland and really loved it, but gas prices were insanely high (nearly 4 years ago). How is Den Haag and Scheveningen ? Doei !

Who's talking about pinching pennies?? I fill up every 2 days, and it costs more than 30$, it's more like 60$
You have no idea what you're talking about. No point in this discussion...we'll talk again when you pay 10$ a gallon...see if you say then what you say now.

Im sorry, Im in the middle. Yes i would pay 10$ a gallon and enjoy my ride, But if i could i would.
Working under 16 during school wont even pay for my work on my car let alone gas... Once im 16 ill work 40 hours a week for bassicly Nothing an hour..... I wont have the extra money to spend on gas.

Yes i think if you have a vette its worth the extra to pay.... Then again I feel if it goes to 10$ a gallon will anyone even drive.....
No matter how high the prices go its just the price to pay for such a sweet ride. But most people dotn use them as a DD, This is my one and Only dd car, so i dont know what id do if it hits that.........

The buck doesn't stop at the gas pump. All goods are flown, trucked, brought in by rail, or shipped (by boat) in. As the cost of fuel goes up, so does the cost of goods. Just remember that.

Well here in Phoenix, I paid $2.95 for Diesel today. My daily driver is a 2006 Mercedes E320 CDI Diesel. In traffic and a little freeway I got 33.1mpg today. I normally get around 650 miles on a 18gallon tank. I use A/C most of the time, and it's got a Kleemann kit on it so the car burns rubber at intersections and blows BMW's off the road. The look of bewilderment is priceless.

100 Octane gad was $6.20 as of last weekend at the Mobil Station at Tatum & Bell Rd. Premium Unleaded was $3.09. Scottsdale is running $3.25 a gallon.

I don't complain about fuel prices when driving my Vette. And bombing a country isn't a real answer.

But lets look at the leaders and thier former jobs....
Bush. Big Oil.
Cheney. Big Oil.
Vladimir Putin. Big Oil.

And lets not forget that the Saudi Royal Family has to pay monthly checks to increasingly more dependants. Even Great Great Great Grandchildren have to get those monthly checks. Do you know how much it costs to run a Yacht in the Mediterranean? Or to have multiple wives shopping in London and Paris?

China and India are gulping oil like Americans now, and thru it all George Bush is pissing off every country he can that produces oil. Wait till Chavez cuts his pump off and olny sells to India and China like he has threatened. What are gonna do? Bomb Venezuela next?

Lets just outlaw all Fords and Chryslers that dont get at least 50mpg, have them all crushed and call it a day.

Twin Turbo should know Kleemann CDI.... They are pretty rare here in the US. One of my former cars was a CLK55 Kompressor (Kleemann also). I sold that to a guy in California who then lost his license for 10 years. Har.

I dont complain too much. Really US guys, you have no idea how cheap it is here till you live in Europe.

I'll take Phoenix any day over Autostrada gas stations in Italy. I have already paid over 10 bucks there.

One last thing. Don't buy into the crap about Hybrids. They dont work in Arizona. They only get good mileage when you DO NOT USE the A/C or Deforster. Turn on one of those babies and you get worse gas mileage than my clean diesel.

The neighbors Honda Insight had been parked for 2 months now. Seems it needs a new battery. Gee whiz, 5 grand or something like that every 6 years to replace the battery. Do they math on how much she saved. Ahem, she didn't save a thing. It cost her more in the long run to drive a Hybrid than a regular car.

I guarantee my Merceddes will be on the road years from when all the Hybrids are in the junkyard. And todays Diesels are MUCH different and cleaner than yesteryears.

But ya can't put a price on putting a kid in the passenger seat, and blasting off in a 454 Corvette. The kid that ownes this one smiles all the time....

I looked at the Hybrids..(Toyota)..then bought the wife a Corolla S instead.....40 highway..we don't work anymore,so most driving is freeway..very little city..so now our composite Hwy MPG is:
78 SA- 15
69 502= 8.3
93 Toyota DX wagon - 32
06 Corolla - 40
=====================
Composite Avg..= 23.8

When I used to live in Michigan, I had a boat, 90 gal tanks on each side,
never left the dock but was a nice floating cottage. So I sold it to keep the vette, now its looking like its going to stay parked unless I really need some stress relief.

If we all could learn to conserve a little I think prices would come down, but then I believe they would just produce less fuel and keep the prices high as hell!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for ranting.......
