not to act like a dick but if your worried about m p g's dont get one of these cars, most people that get them will take a l-48 that doesnt even get close to 15 mpg are looking for ways ,,they cheapest they can,,to increase h . p. mine got 7 mpg when i first got it. 383.... th-400-373rear after installing a 700 r-4 it bumped it up to 15 m p g..on the road doing 60-65...but the reduction in rpm's was drastic from 3500 at 60 to 2300 at 75 mph....i dont use my 73 as a daily driver,,i have a s-10 a daewoo lanos,,a nissan centea and a gmc safari,,so the vettes for car shows cruise nights and a vacation get away fun car..a toy a constant labor of love money pit..my advise to anyone wanting a c-3..first make up your mind what you plan on doing w/ the car..if its a dailey driver,i would get a c-4,,or c-5c-3's are a high maintainence vechile..my car has been totally rebuilt with a boatload of cash to do itand every time i take it out, maby something small maby not theres something i have to adjust,,fool with ect//last time i took it out to get some miles on the new engine build(had 125 milessince christmas) a hood clip feel off holding on the insulation blanket under the hood,,,hit the fan and went thru the hood tore the jet coated fan..fixed that ..went to bloomington this weekend,,it was hot the passenger door panel acted up sticking and hanging up because of the heat,,also it rained 1/2 way thru the road tour,,,the wipers got locked up toughter!!!somehow they jammed in a downpour..nature of the beast with these cars there 30 + years old and a constant project..mechanically is a dependable car but you wouldnt believ the amount of cash put in to get it where it is today
