The stock steel valve sucks. Delco has a plastic replacement that works much, much better.

Is there a part number for the delco plastic valve?
Also is a secong shut off vale, like the one everyone is speaking of here on the forum necessary?

I don't know the part number. I asked for a heater control valve for a 77 at AutoZone, they gave me the plastic one in a Delco box.

I just had a look at your photos, very nice in black. Are the seats original leather ??

Am thinking I will do the same after seeing your photos

Default C3 Water Shut-off Valve

It appears from the A/C system logic that the water shut-off valve is only OFF when the HVAC system is completely OFF (left dial all the way forward) or when the A/C is in the MAX (recirculate) mode. All other times it is allowing the hot coolant to circulate through the heater core. (I know, I thought that was "curious", too.)
I'm considering a different approach to the manual shut-off valve under the hood. It appears that the vacuum line going to the water valve is running close to the main vacuum line going to the A/C control head (near the blower area in the engine compartment). I'm thinking of putting a jumper tube in the water valve vacuum line (black with white line) and a "T" fitting in the vacuum source line (solid black tubing). In the winter, I can plumb it like the design shows. In the summer, I can plug off the water valve line coming from the control head and jumper the main vacuum line to feed the water valve. The valve should then stay activated at all times. And, I don't have the unsightly manual valve sticking on the fender well. What do you guys/gals think?
