I wear rubber surgical gloves, for EVERYTHING I do.
They're cheap. You can buy them by the box. I keep them in the garage.
I never work without them. I'm an Oral Surgeon in my "real life". I can't afford to go to work with greasy, cut up, grungy hands/nails.
Wear gloves. AND...don't tell me you can't do delicate work with gloves on. I do surgery all day long wearing them.
Neurosurgeons can work on you BRAIN wearing gloves, so don't try to tell me you can't work with small bolts/nuts/washers wearing them.

Don't know what it is exactly, but your post actually made me laugh out loud. I guess it's the mental image of sitting down in the chair of the man we all love to hate. You hear the command, "open wide" and through the nasty safety glasses the assistant put on you, you see a set of hands that look like they just finished working on a trailing arm or something.
Not to mention the comparison between brain surgery and trying to fix the freakin' broken whatever on the vette!
I think i am too. Whenever i get the stuff on my arms i get all these weird red lines for a day or too. Although i can tell the three apart by taste. I have a pic somewhere of my eye after some oil dropped into it. Felt fine, but it looked disgusting.
P.S. JB weld does NOT taste like chocolate, just incase anyone was wondering.
I also found washing myself down with gasoline and a rag takes any paint residu or greese off rather quickly...what doesn't happen so quickly is getting that smell off

Having a quick smoke right after washing like this will get rid of the gasoline smell! And any residual oil and grease you may have missed!
I have nice callouses from some much tennis over the years, but I try to stay away from the mechanic's hands, even though I'm doing much more mechanic work now since I own the Vette.

I was about to respond to his post when I read yours. Yes, it is! Every day I work on "Love" it takes a bite of me and draws blood. Think it's a vampire! Glenn
