After reading through this forum, I'm leaning towards not going through with the purchase.

Several reasons come into play.

Do I really have the funds to even start the restoration after the purchase? Not sure.

Do I have a place to do this work? No, nothing on the property but a couple of storage sheds.

Do I have the time, and will I make the time to do the work? Yes, and I'm not sure I will. There's a lot of other things I like to do also.

If anyone's interested in this car, I'll send them the pics to decide, and contact information, after I clear it with the owner. He just got home from some heart work, 4 stints implanted.

Thank you all, I've enjoyed .

Don't get discouraged too soon. The gas tank & rear alignment problem have to be fixed, but everything else can wait. Our cars are all works in progress, no one ever finishes as there is always something new to try. A good alignment shop can tell where your rear is out & then you decide how to fix it. If the car is in decent shape & the gas tank & alignment problems are fixed then this becomes a $5k - $6k car.

I just did a quick search, VanSteel will rebuild your trailing arms for $600. This is worse case, you may only need new strut rods. New gas tank is between $200 - $300. Looks like we're talking $1k max to get the car driveable

You guys sure won't let someone quit.

You about put me back in the ball game. If I go through with this purchase, I'll send in the support and be able to post the pictures. it's definately nothing to be ashamed of.

The tank's been repaired, just needs installation.

I've got a 74' super beetle that needs some TLC also. I've got more things to do than time to do it.
