Maybe I'm Wrong Again
I posted comments on 9/2 about losing all gearing while driving on the freeway. I think the driveshaft was turning, but could only coast to the side of the road. I concluded that my new 2004R trans was the culprit. I just started the car, put in reverse, but couldn't see the driveshaft because it's high up in the tunnel. I know the sideshafts that go to each wheel were not turning. So I need help from all of you smarter than I am vette owners. Is it the differential? If I am forced to replace it, should I go with GM, or maybe Eaton? Stay with the 3.36 gears, or switch to 3.07, or 3.08...90% of my driving is freeway.
It's Labor Day...my wife took off with her sister, and I'm here at the computer probably screwing up my eyesight, and the dog's eyesight.
BTW, out of desperation, I found a 2001 Z06 at a local Honda dealer, and drove it about 1/2 hour on the freeway. I've driven fast cars in my life,
including my 428 CobraJet Ford Fairlane..hell, I was only 24 years old..
Anyhoo, this Z06 is brutal in 2nd gear...what's with the suspension..obviously can't handle all the torque..my wife won't let me get another vette..especially an manual trans.
