REVERSE CLOCK ??????
ever see an original vette clock go in REVERSE ? the sceond hand all of a sunnden went backwards for a few seconds, was having a starting issue, turned key & it did nothing, no click no nothing nada...........wiggled battery cables & it started, is this a lose cable ? ground issue ? what would make a clock go backwards, ever see this before ? once in a while the lights go really really bright & then very dim..........another time i turned on my headlights & the car shut off.........possible multiple issues ? dont want any electrical fires, alrady had one years ago in my yellow vette........still eating SULFER everytime i take it out.........!!! Did you check the odometer, maybe it was going backwards as well(christine style)
If the trend continues you may end up with a super low mileage 400/390hp tripwr, could get you a lot more bucks(you can smell bucks yeah?.....sorry, meant SPELL) ......................don't let it go to long though or you may just end up with a shell and no numbers to back up your find
Mine does the same thing. Your clock may not be original. I converted mine to a quartz movement a few years ago and one of the things I noticed is that it will sometimes run in reverse. No big deal, you just disconnect the battery for a second and then reconnect and it will run correctly. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times to get it right. On the good side, its very accurate when it runs correctly. But even when it runs in reverse it's still right twice a day.

It sounds like a bad ground on either the battery or alternator or main ground on the door pillar. Next time it happens wiggle things in order. Example wiggle the ground on the battery. If nothing happens wiggle the positive. You may be able to cause the symptoms by wiggling wires while the car is running. Try the ground on the battery then alternator. If it is neither there should be a main ground on the driverside footwell area...its up about 18 inches on the door pillar.
Actually I would check this door pillar ground first..ignition,lights,cluster etc is all grounded there. Mind you I'm not familiar with your car but from what i have read most C3's have this ground.

I THINK IT IS A GROUND ISSUE.............THANKS ZIXXX PACKER
Keep in mind solving the problem by wiggling the cables at the battery the last time does not mean thats where the problem is. You may have just shocked the system.
