I took my steering column apart about 2 months ago and I cant remember exactly how every thing gos back in. Is there any place I could go to get a good clear diagram with pictures that are clear to help me get it back together right? Any help would be appreciated.
It would be a good idea for you to fill out your profile because we have NO idea what year car you;re talking about, and there were several different styles of columns.
Also, as a Vette owner it would be a good idea for you to get an assembly manual for your year of Vette, called an AIM. You can buy it through Mid-America Corvette Catalog.
Maybe if we find out what year and what type of column, a member will have the correct AIM manual page and they will scan and post it.
The AIM won't do you any good with respect to reassembling your steering column. You need a Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual. First of all what year Vette do you own. Second of all, do you have a standard (non-adjustable) column or a T&T?
This link might be of assistance: www.corvettefaq.com
click on Jim Shea's steering papers
click on Corvette steering papers
Go down to Std Strg columns or
Go down to Tilt & Telescoping steering columns
Click on the appropriate Papers and Pics as well as the blow ups.

I GUESS IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SAY WHAT YEAR MY CAR IS. iTS A1982 CORVETTE THAT i BOUGHT EARLIER THIS YEAR FAIRLY CHEAP. iT NEEDS ATOTAL RESTORATION SINCE IT WAS SITTING FOR ABOUT 11 YEARS. i HAVE BEEN SPENDING ALL OF MY SPARE TIME WORKING ON. I HAD TO TAKE THE STEERING COLUMN APART BECAUSE THE IGNITION WAS POPPED. iTS BEEN A WHILE AND NOW IM OT SURE OF HOW IT GOES BACK TOGETHER. I GOT TWO ASSEMBLY MANUALS OFF OF EBAY BUT THEY WERE COPIED TO MANY TIMES AND ARE NOT GOOD CLEAR PICTURES. iAM HOPING TO FIND SOME GOOD INSTRUCTIONS WITH PICTURES YOU CAN REALLY SEE.

i HAVE A 1982 CORVETTE. iT HAS THE T&T STEERING COLUMN
Downloading the papers, blowups, and pics should provide quite a bit of information on reassembling your T&T steering column. However, if you are still stuck, take a digital picture of the column and the part(s) that you are now trying to assemble. Post them here or just start a new thread. I am sure that we can help you get it back together.
Please try to call out any parts that you are working on by the names and/or numbers that are used in the blowups and pics.
No, Im not going to work on that just yet. Im working on other things right now. I knew this would e a prolem later and was tryingto get imformation together for when I tackle it.
I still have a lot of work to do on my corvette but when I want to try to start it I will need that assembled.

The TT column is the hardest to remember being as it has twice the moving parts. A page or two from the above will get you on track.
YES THER ARE MORE PIECES AND WHILE I WAS WORKING ON IT DISCOVERED THERE WAS A PIECE BROKEN AND HAD TO ORDER IT SO I MOVED ON TO OTHER AREAS OF THE CAR AND AS TIME PASSES THE MEMORY FADES. IJUST STARTED VISITING THIS SITE IN THE LAST WEEK AND AM AMAZED AT THE IMFORMATION AND HELP A PERSON CAN GET FROM OTHER PEOPLE. IT SHOULD BE A BIG HELP.

What's on the menu right now? It's true they have to be worked on in stages or you never get anything done.

Well, Im waiting to get the spindels back from the shop. When I get the spindels back I can reassemble the rear and get it back in. I have the trans out and am going to take that to the shop to have it gone over to make sure it is good and in working order. I would realy like to pull the motor and go over that and paint it up nice, but all of those vacuum lines and linkages and electrical connections are scary. Its not like the old fords I used to work on when I was young. They were much simpler.

The vacuum can be a bit daunting for sure, but with a diagram in hand, and using tape to mark what goes where it's really pretty easy. Just go slow, and be careful. Th electrical isn't bad, and in fact can be pretty easy.
