Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a stand to mount my 454 on. Can anyone tell me if a 750Lb rated stand will hold this big block or should I upgrade to the 1000Lb unit?

A fully assembled BB = 675lb approx. I bought the 1000lb stand.

Don't use a 750 lb stand. It was very scary when I put the 454 onto it. Maybe if you've got aluminum heads and intake it will be okay.

I promptly went out and got a 1250lb stand. 1000 is probably fine.

Thanks Guys,

That confirms my thinking. The block still has the iron heads on it and will stay like that while I'm working on the frame. Once the chassis is done, we'll start the motor build. Plans include aluminum heads, intake & water pump so the weight will come down eventually.
