Default 68 #s matching roadster project value

okay fellas, question for ya all out there in the vett world.i'm committed to this trade, and that's okay, cause i'm chasing a dream.i'm trading a running 76,a project 74,and a 74 roller parts car for a 68 327/350 4-speed convertible.the car is #s matching, and no rust issues.it has the frontend off,but i'm getting a complete 68 front clip w/headlights/hood,etc.the front steel is there, rear bumper brackets, and good cores to have rechromed.i'm getting a wiper door assm.complete,a hard top,and a good convertible frame.the interior is missing the seatbelts, but has all the rest the interior pieces, and including a excellant set of seats.the car has flares on the rear, but included is a set of org.GM quarters. The car was purchased w/21 other vetts from the south, along w/3 semi trailer of parts,so it's sat for several years.it doesn't run,but i was told that there's no damage to the engine, and i believe the owner.a very nice guy.what do you all feel that this car in the condition i described is worth?i've never had a conv.vett, and i passed on another 68 vert, cause this is #s matching, and no rust issues.i have a 68 coupe,327/350 auto car for the wife, and i get the vert.i put alot of hours into the 74,and that's the only car that i'm going to miss.not cause i like the car particularly, but it was a burn car,and i brought it back to life, and it's close to being road ready, and i had to turn a guy away w/cash in hand yesterday for the 76.OUCH!!!i don't have the money to buy a 68 vert,so i can only hustle,or trade, and this is a dream car to me.i don't mind the work really.i'd rather have a car that i built.i appreciate it more, and it's truly mine that way.any imput would be gratly appreciated here as to the value of what i described.i AM getting the car,but i guess,i'm trying to sleep better at night.

Since you already have a 68 coupe, you know that the 68 convertible is going to need a lot of "one year only" parts and that translates into $. This ain't gonna be a cheap project. I hope you are ready financially.

I'll second that!
If someone had told me I'd be $25k in the red when I first got my 68, I would have thought they were crazy! Now I know better.....

This car sounds like it's in better shape than my car when I first got it
If you do the trade, keep us posted on how the work is going. Sounds like an interesting project

It sounds to me that you have the know how to make this car right. You already did the hard part, you got the deal. Now, you will have the fun of building it just the way that you want it. Personally, my dream Vert would be a 71-72 Corvette convertible Big Block 4 speed. Hopefully, I will find just the right car. My best friends dad had a new one in our senior year of High School. I have great memories of cruising down Pacific Coast Highway between Newport Beach and Huntington. Those were the days! I say GO FOR IT, and all the best of luck!

TODAY IS FINALLY THE DAY!!!!!!!My 68 vert project is on the back of a trailer in a Denny's parking lot somewhere probably, while my buddy grabs a bite to eat before he starts back on the road here from PA.I've put alot of energy into this car,and it's not even in my garage yet!BUT will be here this afternoon.I will post pics later to let you guys see my new baby!Forgive me,but i'm very excited.Funny how you want something soooooo bad, like it's the only one in the world, and you have to have it,then i found a 69 vert project earlier this week that's mine,if i want it,which i'll probably pick up,too, for another day,or use as bargaining material. One thing that i'm FINALLY learning is to calm down, cause there's other cars out there, and the one that i have my heart set on isn't the only one in the world! Not just w/ these cars, but i've received BLESSING AFTER BLESSING,and THERE IS someone bigger than I,in my corner.I'm sure glad of that!I'll get some pics available tonight,or tomorrow.Guess, the wife's coupe is getting ready to be put on the back burner.hmmmmm,She doesn't care, cause she only likes vetts, cause she knows that i love'em.She wants a 50s truck w/ bubbly fenders! I'll build her one.She deserves it!

Okay.....no pics yet,but got the 68 vert yesterday,and...............well........ ...it was apparently rearended before,so the rear taillight panel was replaced,BUT not correctly at the bonding strip, but they whacked it at the very top of the panel area where it meets the rear deck. The car had like 7 layers of primer/paint,and chipping, which makes for easy removal! but,the fiberglass mate was put on right over the paint!hmmmmm....so i started stripping, and have a taillight panel ready to go in,then i have to replace the quarters, cause it has 70ish flares.Besides all this, which i DID know, the car is extremely solid(a S.C. car),and the engine/trans is the correct 327/350 horse,4-speed.Haven't checked the rearend yet.Came w/a 69 front clip, not on the car,but rough.I glassed at a boat shop, and painted for a couple years THANK GOD!!!!Guess,I'm gonna use a very good front clip from my 68 coupe that's off, then i don't know what i'll do w/the coupe. The vert, and the coupe are org.the same color,so that would be kinda neat to have matching 68s,one 4-speed,the other auto.I don't know, but kicking azz to get the car back to org.appearance in primer, then the engine/trans comes out, body off,and start on the frame clean up,and the new street/solomn susp.kit from Zip products. Here we go.Alot of work, but hey,it's my dream car,and it's finally here in the shop!!!!Any advice,or short cuts that makes life easier? Thanks,Kevin

Very little actual difference between '68 sheet metal and '69 sheet metal. If it's in usable shape, why not use the '69 front end on the '68 convertible and keep your existing front end for the coupe? Hood supports changed between 68 and 69, so use a '69 support with the '69 fiberglass.

This am after working on customer's car for awhile, and before going to chow some TURKEY!!!!!!! i crawled under my new project to check it out,and here's what i found.........the muncie is a #s matching, and a C code, which is a M-22,and the rearend is dated correct, but came up as a 3.08 heavy-duty posi for 427 car.My questions are....could a 327/350 horse car be ordered w/a heavy-duty rearend that was offered in 427 cars, and would a 68 M-22 be 26 spline,or 10 spline?69 was 26 spline, and i'm pretty certain that the 67 was a 10.Am i correct here? All the info.that i can find is that there were only 80 M-22s installed in vetts that year,so i'm thinking that this is a pretty rare little project that i just picked up?It had me pretty excited.I KNOW that a C code is the M-22,but i kept questioning myself, and hurried up,and ran over to the house from the shop to get in the books, and it was there what i thought, and was hoping for.Hope everyone had a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
