I do hear these stories all the time, to explain to others is difficult to explain most times. I get fooled sometimes but mostly I can spot them easly, mostly there voice gives them away. If you visit Patong beach in Phuket there are hundreds of them.

thousand of farangs get fooled all the time, specially in places like pattaya or similar... dean, correct me if i'm wrong, western people in thailand have so many little occasions to meet and go out with a standard good thai girl, specially those who do not live there or go to thailand once a year or so...usually in thai tradition a thai girl going out with a farang man is seen like a prostitute, unless you live in thailand, have thai friends, and slowly you'll be accepted like one of them...then a new horizon for your relations open and you can get into the real thing, until that happen you'll be in a kind of limbo (similar to a ghetto) where you'll get plenty of smiles but not real warmth.

did i go too much off topic?
