Hey how about Mako that could be either.

Zora has an 'a' on the end of it, which in Spanish means feminine.

I agree with Gordonm and Durango...cats are very forgiving.

I just cant understand De-clawing a cat,its basically their only means of defense...

My dad is a vet, and he does great declaws. My kitten had one bandage off with no ill effects in 6 hours...she had the other one pulled off by morning. Both cats stay inside, so they (and my furniture) don't need front claws.

Laser pointers and cats are great fun, btw...

Yeah, Missile had one of her bandages off in the carrier in the car on the way home, and had the other one off within five minutes of me walking in the house and letting her out. She learned to walk on her hind legs very well. She's never been outside, and as I said earlier...she can whoop Rocket, the dog, with no front claws. She can't tear up furniture either.

I had a cat when I was a kid that was declawed on all four feet, and she went outside during the day...could still catch anything she wanted to eat and climb trees.

I doubt a cat with no front claws could whip a dog if the dog got serious,...and If the cat does by chance "get outside" which is very common, you may never see it again
as it has not much to defend itself anymore

http://www.api4animals.org/facts?p=357&more=1

Dont get me wrong, I love cats but I cant see robbing them of their primary defense tool.

I am a proponent of a neat orderly home, I am also a pet owner, dog, cats, bird, snakes, bunnies,,for a time what ever the kidz bought home. The last cat we got I said its claws would be removed,, my daughter researched it and found out it is a procedure that involves amputation, so we decided that we would not get her claws removed, the cats (3) are indoor cats only, because we live on a busy road that azzholes around here take for the flying mile at Bonneville. Cats can defend them selves very well with their hind paws, I know when our three start a (play) riot front and rear paws are flailing, the dog,,,she just watches 'em , rolls over and goes to sleep, knows better then to get involved, shes got the scars on her nose to remind her. Oh yeah, dont ever feed your dog leftover deli meat that your hunting buddies have left behind for ya,,, the results were disasterious,,, like a $hitting contest,,,the dog won,, I lost, so did the carpets. Nope, none of the cats are declawed, thats what they have scratching posts for,,,Peace,,,Moosie

This is actually the first cat I have ever had de-clawed. The vet assured me it was a very simple process so long as the kitten is young. She plays with Rocket all the time. She still has her hind claws, and teeth. She could easily hunt and defend herself with both or those were she to get outside. She's fast, agile, and can jump a six foot barrier without climbing up. I have no reserve about having her front claws removed. she's happy, I'm happy, the furniture is happy...

Yep, its a simple procedure, and its O.K. for many people, just not me or my kids. Its like cutting off your finger tips so you wouldnt have to clean or trim your finger nails, I've seen many declawed cats survive as outdoor cats mainly thru their being able to adapt,, one cat that my family had would roost on a tree limb and actually wait for a bird to land on a lower branch and just fall on the bird taking it to the ground & mealtime, it was a sight to see him climb the tree and fall off onto a bird, wish he was still around ,,,,I'd tape it. To each his own,, I aint trying to be critical,,,hell I usta hunt, still fish, my pets are neutered.
Peace,,,Moosie

We chose not to "de-claw" our cat for this reason:"Shadow is an "outside" cat and for his defense, would "dis-arm" him and he would be defenseless against other cats,predators...in fact,Shadow used his front paws to kill the rattlesnake...very quick and efficiently,I might add...

Rattlesnake..

The biggest threat around this area are Coyotes, I believe I lost at least one cat to one a few years ago.

My cat drags all kinds of dead or half dead prizes home
Birds, mice, shrews ect:
He's cool and he loves the bath tub, believe it or not

I used to have a cat, a female Persian/Himalayan mix named Missy. She wasn't big, average for a cat like her. One night she came backing in through the window she went in and out of. She backed in the window, dragging a frig'n beaver she got at the lake. It wasn't dead yet, but not happy. The beaver had 10 pounds on that cat easy, and she still figured he'd make a great gift to us.

I truly beleive that cats are fearless, sometimes regretfully so, but fearless none the less. We had (while I was married to #2) this great big mush of an all white (NOT ALBINO) male cat,, "Tuffy" was his name, and he was. He lived outside when he wanted and if he wanted in, he'd knock, he left all types of much larger wildlife in his larder outdoors, from rabbits to woodchucks,, didnt matter if it was alive and he wanted it ,, he'd have it, my ex planted herbs, oregano , thyme, rosemary, whatever,,, she got a catnip plant and it grew untill Tuffy caught wind of it, he was found sprawled out belly up in the sun barely alive with a half eaten rabbit and no catnip plants left,,, he was never the same after that,,,,,burnt himself out I guess. Reminded me of the bums you usta see sprawled out down on the Bowery in N.Y.C. Tuffy was priceless, Peace,, Moosie

My dad has declawed a lot of our cats over the years, they all went outside during the day, none of them ever had a defense problem. Claws are just for holding on...teeth are for inflicting damage.

My older cat was declawed when she was six years old and never had a problem with it.

Update -This little 3 legged cat has tripped the trap twice and took the whole can of food both times !!!! The first time was during the night and I didnt see him do it.I had a can of tuna and a can of cat food inside.First time he took the tuna. The second time about 3:00 today I saw him come out and go over to the cage.He walked inside all streached out with his tail stiff,he reached out with his paw and snagged the can of cat food as the door tried to come down but his tail held it up just long enough for him to get out.He hopped away on 3 legs carrying the can of food and went back under the shed. This little guy is a survivalist.Games On--I wired a chicken leg to the bottom, should have him in the morning.
