just because the car is painted doesnt mean the rust issue is ok remember that the body is fiberglass not metal

You can check the rust/rot in the rocker channels easily.
Reach up under the rocker panel trim below each door.
Get your fingers up between the steel frame and steel rocker channel (part of "birdcage").
Pull outward on the rocker channel. It should not flex much at all.
No chunks of rust should fall out.
