Here are a couple pics of my 79 frame treated with POR-15 in gloss black and the underside treated with PPG DP74. The 74 is the same as the 90(black) epoxy primer, but in red. It brushes on well making the clean up easier with no overspray. There are several colors available and it bonds well to almost anything that is clean. More hardner will yield a higher gloss. My 69 frame was painted in gloss black using a catalysed enamel and the underside treated with PPG DP90 black. There are so many cars and so many choices.

i gotta tell ya that looks fantastic thats a great shade of red on the boxes & wheelwell. wow!. have anymore pics of yer undercarriage? great job
Thanks, I apprecdiate the compliment! I expect to post some finished pictures in a couple weeks. It is just going back together with the POR silver fuel tank just in. The IRS is mostly chrome powder coat with a V&BP spring. The off set T/A arms are black powder. Small detail items are holding me up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there isn't too much chrome powder. The body mounts were replaced, rust cleaned and everything painted with the body on. I just wanted to show how my paint choice worked out; I am pleased with it.
Did ya'll catch that he is from Lafayette, Indiana? I lived through Indiana weather for almost 60 years, and, believe me, his frame needs the BEST to survive that (even if he doesn't drive in winter weather). In good climates (like Phoenix....), a good coat of Rust-O-leum would do the job quite well. But not in the Hoosier state. Spend the buck$ and do the job right. You'll be glad you did.

Not near the quality of RED 69, but I used Rustoleum "Rust Reformer" from the spray cans. Claims to "chemically " kill rust and dries to a pretty decent finish.
Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. I used on the entire rear end of the Z28 I used to have. I brushed it on and you couldn't tell is was not sprayed. I got the tip from a Camaro website where they did poll, POR-15 vs Eastwood and the Eastwood won hands down.
