Default Rubber vs Poly Body Mounts

I ordered poly bushings for suspension components; but had reservations about poly body mount bushings. Wouldn't the firm poly body bushings be kind of harsh on the fiberglass as far as stress cracks, etc, etc?

68-72 used aluminum, I think poly would be less harsh than that.

I tried them .... makes the car squeek more than the rubber ones. After ~5 yrs with them, I finally took the time to install the factory rubber ones again. Much nicer .

I opted for poly. You gotta grease the poop outta them when installing.

I don't see the point of poly body mounts. The body is not structural. It just sits on top of the frame. All poly will do is couple the body tighter to the frame and give you noise, vibrations and stress cracks.

Yes, the early C3 came with aluminum mounts. GM finally got smart in '73 and switched to rubber. I switched my 71 over to rubber and like it much better.

I switched my 75 rubber mounts to poly. Why ?
The rubber mount design tends to trap water and oil,
where the water rots out the sleeve/bolt and the oil
soaks into the rubber - destroying it over time.
My rubber mounts were all of this.

Poly will last longer here and offers some isolation from the frame.

Aah. Yeah, we don't have that problem here in Texas.
