My situation,...my wife doesn't care about old cars at all. To go a step further, she HATES Corvettes. However, she allows and supports me having one, and even buys me Corvette stuff for holidays gifts.

I don't like sewing, scrapbooking, shopping, dance, etc. But as long as it doesn't put a strain on our marriage, SHE can do it all she wants.

I would think you need to look deeper into your relationship. I bet the demand about getting rid of the Vette is just a symptom of a larger problem.
All that needs to be said Very well done.

Wow ! I voted for the door. My current wife and I have been together 28 years and better believe things get dicey once and a while during marriage. Here I sit in NW Ohio, there's are freezing rain, the temp is at 29*, wife is visiting the daugher until Tuesday and I'm taking care of her hobby - horses. She knows that I'll do this for her without questions since I'm her husband and stuff like this never needs discussed. Since I work for a living and have to be at work at 8AM, I've got up at 5AM to feed, water, wait and turn them suckers out before I go to work. That said, my ride don't take any time from her, don't need cared for when I'm gone and I'm the only one busting my knuckles making the SOB run. WTF do we need a poll for? BTW, my 1st marriage lasted only 5 years because I was stupid and didn't know a good person when I met her.

My wife is not replaceable! I found a true one of a kind! there is always another vette you can find.

I think vet76te said it all, My wife can not rap her head around why I want an old car without all the creature comforts...Air..PS..PB.. That costs as much as a new Mustang Gt with all the goodies... She doesn't get it. but she wants me to be happy and supports me in it! she will never get excited and probably complain about it from time to time. But she knows its important to me and as long as I don't put the vette before my family or marriage and use it as a toy to enjoy in my free time I thinks she is 100% cool with that! Better than be out at bars drinking....

There's about 1.5 billion females on this planet and there ALL SISTERS!
There's only a handful of these lovely cars.
The mere mention of that ultimatum spells the end for her.

my personal experience (and also that of some close friends) tells me that women go forward step by step, like the Church, their policy is to gain 'territory' inch by inch in the family contest so you could well start a relation with a sweet and dedicated woman who brings you the coffee at bed and end up 10 years later cooking for yourself and washing your dishes...
said this, if a woman has arrived to the 'sell your car or i go' iussue means she's already gone too forward (and usually is the husbands fault who let her arrive to this point along the years), so you have only two solutions left, submit yourself forever and leave all your hopes OR go away as far as posible, possibly with a smile and without looking back.

My response would be "Sure, lets also split the bills and get seperate accounts too." Whenever relationships become onesided in relations to power, they usually end or someone becomes a door mat. I could only see selling my vette to pay the mortage or eat, not because she is threatened by it.

One of my EX girlfriend gave me that choice with my 67 nova. The nova is getting a complete restoration as we speak. She was gone in about a day or two.

That's right. My wife comes first but I wouldn't have married a woman that let a car get in the way of a relationship.
