Default help decoding my vin#

Can someone help me find some history about my car by using my vin#? I would like to know all I can about my car but can't figure out how. I not only want to decode it but also be able to tell the build date, options, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
VIN# 1Z37L7S436243
Thanks to this forum, I figured out that at least I have a matching numbers car.

Very little info in the Vin; year, engine, coupe, and build sequence.

1Z37L7S436243

1=Chevy
Z=Corvette
37=coupe
L=L48 engine
7=1977
4=place holder in case they went over 99,999 in production
36243= 36,243rd vette build in the 77 model year which would make it May 77 build.

The trim tag on the drivers side door hinge pillar will offer up some more info about color of car, interior and build date.

This will help you. How about filling out your profile so we know what you have. Info from "Corvette ID Numbers 1953-1993"

Wow, thanks a lot. That's exactly what I was looking for. I figured everything out and have it saved on my computer now. How can I figure out options on my car?

Contact these folks. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area

Allied-Vaughn has microfiche records of the dealer invoices for some (but not all) 77-81 Corvettes. Call them. They will want your VIN. They will search their records for your VIN; if they have it, they will provide a copy of the dealer invoice for your car for $50 and bill it to your credit card. The dealer invoice will list all the optional equipment installed on the car at St. Louis; the original dealer it was shipped to; date it was shipped; assembly date; prices, etc.

Without other documentation with the car, your best bet will be Allied-Vaughn.

There's a couple more pages in the book, I will post them for you when I get a chance later.
