Keisler

Plenty of threads on this subject. Pretty spendy to make the conversion but, from what you'll read on their products, plenty of up-side, very very little on the negative.

There are a lot of threads about the GM and Ford T5 5-speed transmissions and how to put them into your cars. If you're going to the trouble of switching...maybe go with a T5?

I know you'll have to find a pedal assembly...anyplace that salvages Vettes will have one. You'll need a shifter plate, shifter, transmission, pedals, linkages, clutch assembly, and probably a few other goodies I forgot about.

Keisler sells bellhousings, pedals, and such and will sell them seperate from their 5 speed kit. I didn't look at your profile, but you can get a decent T-10 for 5 or 6 hundred bucks. Add another 2 hundred or so for a new hurst shifter. You can pick up used bellhousings for 100 bucks or so or buy new from keisler for $199 I think. Their pedal assys are about the same price. I would think you can make the conversion for $1500 give or take a dollar or two. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one of those five speeds but they are pricey. I'm considering a 4 speed swap in my '80.

I can find T5s pretty regularly for $700 or less and some shipping.

Well, we've been going through this is a few threads. Bernie and Norval have done the swap, and me and a few others are planning to. The swap includes a '93 T5 or less, with an '85 truck bell housing, and a .5" spacer between the transmission and bell house. The TH350 yoke will transfer over I think, and the drive shaft may need to be cut. If you go with a hydraulic clutch like most do, which is also an easy conversion...you don't have to mess with all the linkages.

I called a Keisler recommeded dealer and asked what it would cost from top to bottom ( drop off Pick up when its done deal ) to get the work done and they said everything for 5,000.

Kind of pricey.... If you do not wnat to do the work yourself... So I backed away from buying an auto car. I figured by the time I bought the car made the conversion I would have more money in it than its worth and would be money ahead to pay a little more for a 4-speed.

Bought a 71 4-speed and Glad its a stick, so much more fun to drive then autos.... no offense autoguys.....

The advantage of finding a cheap auto car and converting it is the removable cross member. I know that's not what should sway someone, but it's a cool thing to have if you find a cheap auto over a more expensive manual car.
