I have recently came upon a 1976 corvette...upon this I have been asking technical help on this forum to guide me through to bring this car back to life. I am not a person who likes to go back to original, nor have the same thing the next guy in my town has. Some people need remember the saying their parents and teachers taught them "If you can't say something nice...then don't say anything at all"...I understand that people are entitled to their own opinion, but I bought the car they did not buy the car nor do they drive the car. So when someone ask a question for help...instead of tissing them, help them and be thankful they are not trying to be like you.

Agreed.
I as you am changing things on mine. Resto-mod is what I am doing.
It's my car and I'll do what I want. If it hurts the resale value, then it's my problem.
I'm with you bro. . .
As said above, there are great people on here that will help you. I can't believe the responses I get sometimes. So many people are so willing to help and so fast with the help sometimes that it is simply amazing. I couldn't have gotten it running as good as it does now without this forum.
No one has dissed me for the mods I have, but; I see it on here sometimes. They are the minority, I believe.
Are you saying that people have been critical of you for wanting to modify your car? That's pretty unusual for this forum. There are a few people who bang the "keep it original" drum but I doubt that anyone would be upset that you are modding a 76.
It's your car and you can do what you want with it. If it's an all-original car just keep the original parts in storage and put in your mods. Most modifications end up being bolt-ins that don't require a lot of hacking so you aren't going to affect the future value of the car.
I'm putting a 2001 engine and trans into a chrome bumper car which is about as unoriginal as you can get. Aside from probably having to remove a 2"x2" piece of the trans tunnel it's a bolt-in job.
Just don't put on one of the wagon back ends and velour interior. Then even I'll yell at you.
I agree with your statement. After all it is your car and you are free to do with it as you please. But also remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion so if you ask for the opinion of the forum members you can expect an honest answer. Those answers may not agree with what you think but they are not meant to "tiss" you.(I am really not sure what that means. Couldn't find it in Websters.) Remember if you don't want to hear it don't ask for opinions here.
The car as of right now has no mods except for a new 350, comp cam, headers, and side exhaust. I can take pic as I go along if you like, but just trying to get inspected. To answer CCs96's question, it was the thread I posted asking about the offset and tire size for 20in. Torq Thrust II wheels where I got the remarks. It was nothing big...but yet it was still a smart *** remark.

Hang tough, Bud. Just about everyone here knows more about C3s than me. But I just keep asking the questions and they answer pretty fast. Before long you'll be helping someone else out with your knowledge.
Welcome fellow 76r. Sometimes the 76 is a little like Rodney Dangerfield, "I don't get no respect".
But I love mine, and the only thing a 76 really lacks is in the horsepower department, and that is easily fixed.
Hey distill welcome to the forum. Why dont you get antique plates? Five years for $50 dollars here in Texas another bonus no inspection required. Unless you have a bunch of agressive police officiers nobody is going to pull you over with antique plates.
