I spent the last several years studying and researching C3s, it's my hobby. I'm looking to buy a 1979 that "must-have" certain features and options. One of them is roll-up windows. My research shows me that only 38% of the 1979s built had the power window option.

A31 Power Windows 20,631
It seems like most of the 1979s that I see for sale have power windows. Am I missing something and where are all the roll-up window 79 corvettes?
I'm confused by what the black book shows. I see where you get the 20,631, but also it lists 28465 with power windows and locks, so I wonder if that means both numbers together equal the total # of cars with power windows. Corvette Fever did a feature in the October 06 issue on a one owner 79 with roll up windows, but didn't comment on how many were made. They did mention that the mechanism got punched through the map pockets, making the map pockets useless.
Power windows also became standard equipment on later 79s and wont show up on the options count. Add the 28465 and the 20631 together and add the last few weeks production, maybe a couple thousand, and you got over 50000 with power!
80-82s were standard with power windows since no demand for crank ups.

Thank you for your comments. Crank up windows on a 79 may be hard to find but I will keep looking. I miss the days of roilling up a window with a handle and hope I am not alone.
