1977 vin

Please help me clarify this. I want to buy a 1977 and the Vin is 13 digits/numbers long. I realize that newer cars have a 17 digit Vin. If I understand correctly, the 13 digit vin is correct for 1977. Please provide your insight to this. I want to run a carfax but it only allows for the 17 digit Vin. What do I do? Thank you very much!

No carfax for you.

Vin will tell you year and type engine
Trim tag will tag you colors and interior type
Engine pad will tell you tranny type.

Carfax is (I think) only 82 and later. Here's the info on your 77 VIN.
