What is the breakdown of the number stencilled on the chassis in paint?
I think my 81 has the following

14(0 or 9)41144-301
(6 or 2) 8 - 81

The first number is the GM part number for the frame which for your 81' is 14041144. Not sure what the 301 means. The rest is build date code, see below.

'81 production shown. GM part number; date of frame assembly. 301 is probably the A.O. Smith part number.

The book is "Corvette Restoration guide 1968-1982" by Richard Prince. Very good book as it tells what color parts are painted/plated originally.
