I'm trying to reassemble my headlights and when installing the headlight capsule adjusters I ran into a problem. The plastic tab that sticks out from the two screw holes seem to not be flexable enough to tighten down. This piece is opposite the headlight adjuster screw. Looking at the AIM and catalogs it looks like it just screws down flexing on the alum. ramp. Reviewing all my old capsules, the tab has broken off. How does it work?
There is a groove machined into the head of the adjusting screw that fits into a tab on the headlight bucket. You can just see it on the left side of this photo.
Your tab is broken off too. See the white piece of plastic that is on the tab is not there.
It's all there, doesn't show up to well in the photo. The piece is actually new, I don't recall it having the finger sticking out as shown in your photo of the kit.
I just put that same rebuild on mine. The little plastic arm rested on the alum. support behind the bucket, sort of acting as a shim/slide. I put a little dielectric grease on it to help settle the bucket in place.
