That makes sence to me.. That would explain how so spread out it is. If it was oil.. I doubt it would cover that much ground. I think u guys are right that is is gas.. Where do i look on the tank?? whats on that side of the tank??
does it only happen when the gas tank is at a particular level. could be a pin hole int the tank or like earlier said the filler neck gasket. how about an inline fuel filter? rubber hose on the end of the return or supply lines?
My vette sits slightly down on the drivers side.. SO i bet its leaking on the pass side and running across the cross member and falling there.. I will look more tomorrow and report. thanks again
There is a fuel vapor line on the side. Maybe the rubber hose is cracked. Does the happen after a run? Looks wet in one of your pics of the tank and frame. I think it fuel.

I would say after a run.. I had it running a few times when it was on stands.. It smells like gas but doesnt look like it!!!
Looks more like your gastank is leaking. Possibly one or two pinholes along the squeek pad which appears to be soaked from your photo. Pinholes can leak VERY slowly. Look inside your tank with a flash light and see if there are rust spots along the area right where the squeek pad/crossmember supports the tank.
As the fuel runs along the squeek pad it's picking up color & road film and only appears oily on the ground. If it smells like gas it is.

I have seen that exact thing before. Looks like oil, however, cant figure out why/where oil would be coming from, BUT the puddle on the floor smells like gas????
That is a gas leak
Either the tank, the rubber fuel hoses and or evaporator module are leaking.
Good news is that it isnt hard to fix, and even if you have to buy a new tank, they don't cost a fortune.
Cheers,

you know I had a similar problem and what had happened was the rubber gas line had rubbed for so long on my spare tire that it would leak a little and then eventually drip off the tire, out of the tire carrier and drip onto the garage floor. I could not figure it out until I dropped the spare out and saw some staining. I just relaced the rubber part of the fuel line. just a thought.
If you find one pinhole (due to rust thru) it's only a matter of time.
You could get away with a gas tank repair epoxy kit for the first one or two but eventually you'll end up replacing the tank.
Look on the bright side though, you have sidepipes which makes the job so much easier. Tanks are cheap and it's a pretty simple job. But check the hoses first (and if you replace the tank replace all the hoses while you're in there).

Very good point.. Alot of rusty lines under there. I am sure im gonna have to replace all the fuel lines along with the tank.. but its all good... I will report later of my findings thankyou!
Been there and fixed that. Up on the drivers side of the tank sits a fuel vapor box. It, made of plastic and is black it has 2 hoses going to it, they crack and start to leak dripping down and loosing up all undercoat and paint. You need to take down the spare tire and carrier and look up next to the tank with a flashlight. Order a new one and replace it.It's about a $75.00 part and a hour job. When I did mine they didn't make them a had to find a used one now they reproduce them.Good luck.
GOOD IDEA.... I will almost back the vette out before i do it too I will look around and see where this is coming from.. So far i have been pretty lucky with this car ( on wood ) well get er fixed!!!
