If your frame rail gas lines are rusty that poses a whole new aspect to your project. I'm not even sure you can replace them all without lifting the body off a little. That in itself opens new cans seeing as how body mounts that old don't like letting go easily.

Lets hope your problems stop at the fume canister. That being said...look at your frame lines very carefully and inspect that tank.

it's fuel dissolving the undercoatin, road grime, chassis coatings and whatever is there and that makes it look like oil. Tectyl type undercoatings dissolve in petroleum based products like fuel and kerosine.

Pin hole in the gas tank. Been there, done that.

Probably where it's rubbing on the cross support.

Gas will dribble...and go along any surface....and drip down.

Solution? Call Quanta and get a repro tank.

I had the very same problem with my 69 after I bought it. Chuck
