First off... When my vet was in blocks when i got it i noticed a little oil in the same spot.. Cleaned it up and nothing until now.. month later maybe.. The reason the oil is so long. there was a long piece of grass that the oil formed around..
First I would jack up the car, get under it, and look inside that side of the frame. See if there is any oil INSIDE that frame rail. Maybe it's entering the frame further up, and while driving it moved backwards, and drips out to the floor.
Check the whole frame all the way up to the front.
The only fluids at the back would be brake fluid, gasoline, or shock absorber oil. Depending on the shock...that may be the case...but it's not int he right place.
Well... I will get under there and look but before i ever started the vette or drove it. I had oil in the same spot.. Nothing. been driving it for about 3 weeks now nothing prior but i washed it and waxed it yesterday... Could there be a connection?? hmmmm
is it dripping out directly under the tailpipe??? i've seen tailpipes drip some oil when it's blowing by in the cylinders then out the exhaust. just another thought.

hmm.... again, is it coming out under the tailpipe? could be you squirted water up the pipe and your getting exhaust "grime" running out.
Did you happen to smell the fluid? That's usually the best way to finger a fluid aside from looks. VERY bad and dirty brake fluid can sometimes look like engine oil but them still smell different.

I smelled it... and im quit not sure.. kinda gassy smell
It does look like engine oil. You're also right, and nothing else seems to be leaking. That cross member LOOKS like it's saturated...but how it got that way is the mystery.
Hmmmm - small gas tank leak coming from the top of the tank, picking up gunk running down side of tank and dripping on floor. Maybe check gasket around input to gas tank.

I got under it for about 5 minutes looking and feeling... i cant find anything.. I dont understand why it happens once in awhile...
