NO from a car enthusiast perspective! I only saw it once & that was too much! If you are lucky you will be able to forget it! so as I recall
The good news is the garbage design car that looks like it was done by a child w/ no knowledge of cars appears little as it's stolen in the beginning of the movie & then he looks for it ... so there is no c....... summer & even the title is a fraud.
Probably correct!
Worst: the car & title of the movie.
I don't think I've EVER agreed with Ganey. But I'll gladly make an exception in this case
The movie is a love story. Boy builds car. Boy loses car. Boy meets Girl. Boy finds car. Boy gets girl. Boy gets car.
Mark Hamill before he became Luke Skywalker, and Annie Potts as his wannabe hooker girlfriend. Not to be taken to seriously, or without some form of sedation.
Ok so it's pretty bad that I remember this but...
As I recall the movie came out after the first Star Wars movie. Mark Hamill had been in some type of accident that had left him with a bunch of scars on his face. The horrific sight of that car kept me away from Corvettes for a long time. Then again, I may not be recalling this correctly as a result of the scars from actually having seen this PoS movie...
I bought a whole stack of late 70's, early 80's Corvette magazines. Converting over to square headlights was seen as the coolest thing back then because most cars had round headlights ...with square lights just coming onto the scene. Other "cool" conversions at the time were converting your Corvette into a station wagon (why would anyone want to do this?), and the Can-Am conversion that would add wider front fenders and quarters. Actually, I kind of like the Can-Am look under certain circumstances.
Normally, I would be against seeing any Vette go to the crusher. But what Mark Hammil's vo-tech class did to this car would be the equivilant of someone digging up my dead granny and fornicating with her corpse.
They should have just let that poor thing go to the crusher. At least it would have died with diginity...
Call me a loser but I love this movie. Your looking to far into to this, this is a cheezy 70's movie with cars with fender flares and disco cloths, bad acting and all, but times were simpler. How many of you remember the cars in high school in the 70's and earlier 80's with the jacked up, tires hanging out, header muffler, and would say, man is Joe's car cool ? That car was half cool IN IT"S DAY.

While there can be classic customs the 60"s and 70's had few if any. The Corvette summer car was always butt ugly and time has not been kind to it.
The Ebay add clearly says it is not the origninal, below is what the add says:
This car was built for permotional use and a museum display. There were two car built for the movie and they are over $1,000,000.00 this is not that car
the corvette summer car is awsome, for a custom I love the paint job and the originality of it. The movie is really fun to watch too. You guys are wayyy too critical
Personally I am a big fan of BAD movies. This one was indeed terrible. But that's why I love it. I actually bought it off eBay. Me and my car buddies put it on in the background every so often while we're drinking. Lucky13 was right. I just checked my DVD box and it says 1978. I think that was the year right after the first Star Wars. Either way Mark Hammill is terrible. It's great! How can you watch this movie and not laugh?
