Where is the vin# located on a 77 Vette auto trans?

Should be on the drivers side windshield pillar and visible through the windshield.

I never seen an automatic transmission mounted under the windshield

Oops, didn't read the part about automatic trans. For that, book says VIN is stamped near the production code on the right side of the trans oil pan (TH350) and (TH400) is below the production code on the identification plate on the right side of the transmission case.

Got the AIM? AIM shows where all the factory stamps were supposed to have been placed with the exception of the frame stamps.

AIMs are great!!
