UnderCoating Removal

The 82 im doing has an appliaction of THICK undercoating under it. Anyone have a suggestion or know of a way to get it off? Its pretty hard stuff.....

Do a search. They do make u/c remover. It softens it right up so you can scarpe it off.

I find a heat gun does wonders and won't damage anything.

I did a car with a propane torch and a putty knife, went to a propane store and had them make me a long hose that connected the torch handle to a gas grill tank. That way I didn't have to keep buying small bottles. The hose was $8. Good luck !

I applied a coating of paint stripper over the undercoating and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once it softened, I was able to take it off with a putty knive. After removing the bulk of it, I scrubbed the surface with marine clean and scuff pads, then washed with water.

Finally I wiped the surface down with thinner and ended up with a nice clean panel.
