I would have been fine with my radiator support being backordered for a month had I known that. The page for that item says nothing about having to be backordered or there being a delay. If there was a little sentance that say "Note: This item is a special order. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery" I would have been content. If I see an item on a webpage with no special notices on it, I assume it is in stock and youre going to stick it in a box and send it to me.

Also, after it was ordered, my order just said "processing" - nothing about a delay or backorder. In fact, I just checked the website 5 mins ago and it STILL says "processing." No information about it even being shipped. My radiator support is painted and bolted in my car already.

So many venders that have their websites setup for online prchases employ various methods that seem to surprise all but the most seasoned internet shoppers.

Most seem to be a "no stocking dealer" and this is easy to tell when you get the first "thank you for your order" email and the majority of your stuff is either "backordered" or "processing" or "won't ship for a week or so". That is your first clue that they probably don't stock diddly.
Now, there is nothing wrong with not stocking, but it is deceptive practice to not make the prospective buyer aware, before the online transaction is completed.

Recently I ordered some parts fom Advance Auto online. The website said "1 day shipping" before the transaction was completed, then after completion on the "Print your receipt for your records page" it said Your order will be shipped in 12 days. WTF. I cancelled the order.

By contrast, computer parts suppliers are usually the absolute best and ship very quickly, whether they stock or not. In recent years I have never been mislead. They really have it together, and also realize that if they didn't the good competition would trample them. Obviously they purchase and use the "good sales software".

I have gotten to the point with this where I just send an order list to the customer service with prices and asking them to confirm stock and shipping times and to not put any items on backorder and place the order with them directly that way, with a good credit card only.
If they don't conform to this and send items later or short items, I consider the order completed and just refuse subsequent delivery and deal with the cc company for dispute. 2 can play the game. Never have had a problem with credit card company using this method.

I appreciate all the past business, and it’s you guys (even the angry ones) that have made this business thrive for the past thirty years. We have had our ups and downs and if it were not for the forum, many issues would not be noticed. We will continue to make changes and we will continue to stand behind any issue, and any problem we have!

Best Regards,

E. Fry
President
Willcox Inc.
Mr. Fry, I really appreciate your post to explain to us what was happening. Obviously, its nothing personal between us and Willcox, but if Willcox will not fulfil our requirement of a reliable vendor, then some other one will. In your case, I found Willcox to be a very good vendor for my first 2 or 3 orders, in fact, was the best, but after that, I've noticed that the customer care started to get degraded until it reached a point were no one responding to my emails at all!!. I understand that back ordered parts will need some time up to few weeks which I have no objection at all about it, but if they will not inform about it then I will start complaining!!

Mr. Fry, IMHO Willcox only have one problem, communications with customers.

Thanks again for your reply, I wish you all the best luck

Hamad Al Mannai
Hopefully that will change.

I happen to be a fan of Wilcox as well. I've placed three orders including leather seat covers, carpet, door panel and a complete rear compartment. All items were high quality and fit with no problems. I did have slight delay on the rear compartment but when I called they explained the exact date it would be shipped and it was. I think any vendors including Ecklers have had the same type of issues and at least now we have a direct contact with Wilcox who can help. Thanks.

i am glad you had good luck as have a few other members here. i can only speak of my really bad experiance that i had with them in the past. a defective part and no refund. this happened many years ago but i am very unforgiving when it comes to this kind of treatment from a business. i hope anyone that does business with them and gambles with their hard earned money the best of luck. if it were up to me their doors would be closed forever. i am sure the ones that have had good luck and service would say the opposite. that is the nice thing about having a choice of where you spend your money. i have used ecklers in the past for some hard to find parts and had no problem at all but i have had friends that have had problems there as well. i think some mistakes are going to be made in every company. i just did not get any satisfaction at all using this company so i will be doing business somewhere else. i too am not bashing any members here for supporting the business because if i have good service somewhere i will support it also. we can only give word of mouth on our personal experiances. good and bad.

just an update, wilcox has contacted me through pm and e-mail about my past problem. they are looking into it, so perhaps they very well maybe turning the corner on standing behind the customer. i have no idea how this will turn out because the transaction took place so long ago that it may be impossible to trace back. at least they are looking into it.

I was really scared reading the beginning of this thread. I just placed a big order (actually 3 seperate orders) for dash, interior package, header moldings, etc. My items still say processing and I'm waiting. It's only been 2 weeks, but when reading this, I figured I would never see the items. Thank you Mr Fry for explaining, and easing our frustration. You have to understand, when I finally get up enough $ to finally put in an order, I want instant gratification and delivery so I can see it on my car. Waiting is frustrating. Communication is essential, and can really htwart off any bad publicity. There are plenty of vendors out there. The ones that give the best service usually get my business. If the service is bad, NEXT!

Mr Fry at Willcox just emailed me about my orders. He is really making it right, and I for one appreciate it. he has communicated shipping status and really is concerned about our needs. It was really great to hear from himm personally to take care of and being concerned about problems. This is the service and attention to detail that makes a company successful. My faith is totally restored!

Multiple orders at Willcox. Great products, great prices, and excellent communication. Saved me on a couple of orders making sure I was getting right stuff for my options. I gotta' believe the occurrences were anomalies. Last order this week. My experiences warrant my continued recommendation of them.

Me too! and for the same reason, I got email from Mr. Fry explaining why I had some problems in my order, and he assured me not to happen again. I totally believe him, and I think they just had some bad few days before and now they are back to the their good business.

I knew it would all work out. I only buy from Wilcox. I should be getting commission...I put them onto Corvetteforums.com.

I think they have great customer services. I like it when I call and tell them I want to do "X" and they say thats fine here is what you need and how much $$$ but you may also need XYZ when you dig into the job. You always need something else...nothing worse then having to wait for a 10 cent part to finish the job.

I recently order some parts and a carpet from them. Order thurs 2 March. Started vacation on the 24th thinking carpet would be there Monday or Tuesday. Never showed up. Went back to work today and carpet wont be here till Monday what a waste. I wanted to get the interior completely finished on vacation. Also ordered a ac control unit from them and what a piece of crap. Original had copper pins on 1 2 3 and 5. Theirs only had them on 1 3 and 5. Could not get it to work my AC in Max. Put the old unit back in and worked like a charm. I was only doing it for cosmetic reasons. Plan on sticking with my original parts. Also didnt get my shift indicator along with the control. They waited till Tuesday to ship these pieces and they didnt even get the order right. Called them up and the guy said on Thursday they would overnight the shift indicator. Today is Saturday and Guess what no shift indicator. I plan on doing all my business with Doc rebuild. They have been awesome also great service from Ecklers. Guess its live and learn but service is everything to me. Thanks for listening guys.

I have been dealing with Willcox extensively. They have delivered in a timely fashion to Eastern Canada and have been extremely helpful when advice was needed. Way to go Willcox!!

I like Willcox, but......but.....there are some problems. The Customer service is great.....when I bring errors to their attention. There were just to many errors with orders, shipping, missing parts, promised dates., double charges...etc. I just don't have the time and patience to check for a package every day and see that it has not yet arrived, and then find that it is short parts or that some stuff is back ordered. I am at a point where I am torn. I will be ordering a large interior order in a few weeks, and when I order it, I want to get it......all of it. I don't know about you, but I get excited when my package arrives and I want to start getting stuf installed... I have not yet decided where I will place that order. Its still up in the air.

I'll add my 2 cents, I ordered what I thought was a large order, around $1800. Got some stuff here and there but all originally within a week or so. Good. Now I have alot of problem with the carpet ACC. Not Wilcox fault and they originally tried to rectify it in a timely manner. Had problems with the new carpet pieces, well no return for those yet. Now I have no seat back pieces yet. Oh yah, the front carpet fits like absolute crap. Now I go to put the new already instead all leather seats in my frames. The bottoms don't fit at all. The tops look bad and one they pulled so tight the stitching is tearing. Norm at Willcox is looking into it. That's good, but they don't keep me informed on anything and If me and my wife wouldn't keep calling, I think it would just get dropped. Now for the stuff they sell. Corvette America. I have had bad problem with the seats, the rear roof panel pieces didn't fit good and I had to redrill 4 of the holes just to get them to fit. The rear storage compatment frame and doors look nice till you put them together, there is a 5/16 gap on the front. Your saying that's normal ? More crap parts. The door panels in my opinion are the only thing I've seen so far out of CA that's worth anything. As for Willcox, I don't care how they drag their feet taking care of problems, I've spent my money now take care of me !

TAK82, please tell me that I won't have the same problems that you are having. I have a new set of CA covers and foam, bought from Willcox, in my garage that I will be installing this weekend . I will need carpet, dash, rear compartment and a bunch of other interior pieces......... What are my options??? I have heard that Al Knoch is the way to go. Are they made from the same manufacturer???

Default No problems with willcox

First time customer and happy. (except for the fact they also don't do surface mail to Europe, but non of them do)

Shipped in full.
03/29/2007 Shipped Tracking number

Ship date
Mar 27, 2007

Estimated delivery
Mar 31, 2007

Arrived in Houston on Friday (Mar 30) Good stuff .

Now I have to wait for 6 weeks for the boat to arrive.

A friend of mine lives in Houston and repackages all my ebay, Willcox, ecklers, zip, etc stuff. And posts them with surface mail. Saves me a ton of money, air mail is about 5 to 7 times more expensive to Europe.

I would check your seats if you haven't already!
I can't answer as to whether they are the same manufacturers or not. I too do not have the time to make chasing down parts or constantly sending stuff back a full time job. I have a bad fitting problem with my rear compartment, the door fit bad in the frame. My delema is keep them or send them back, wait weeks and end up getting another crap part. I've heard and seen how some people get nice fitting parts. I don't blame Willcox in any way, but when you take my money I expect you to take care of my problem just as fast as you took my money and not just keep taking orders and putting service second. That'll get you second in sales very quickly ! Oh, check out the (82 reassembly) post and look at his rear ACC carpet install on the last page or so. Mine isn't much better.
