If you saw an L89 '68 convert for 30k you missed the deal of your life.If that car has documentation he will get the money. If it was a '73 to '82 I would agree. They don't bring much. Actually,'68 to '71 big blocks are comparable to mid-years in pricing.

I was at the Barrett-Jackson auction in January and watched as they sold a cabana car (with the cloth top, like the car Tattoo drove from Mr. Roark in the Fantasy Island TV show) for $73,000. The '68 Vette on the site you showed is gorgeous! I'd sure rather pay the $95K for that instead of a $73K cabana car. Anyway, that's the asking price. Unless there are numerous people interested at that price, it won't go for that much.

L89 Aluminum head car is worth that kind of money. The fun starts tonight on SpeedVision with the BJ auction from Palm Beach. Watch the silly money there
I was there this past Feb looking at the cars he has - most are for sale. They sit in the "showroom / museum" until they are sold - if they are for sale. They guy moves some pretty high end stuff. They had collector cars in there from all ages and all prices. Admission was $6 - if I remember correctly.
It is hard to use Barrett Jackson as a guage for prices. Everythigng is always high there. At Chevy Vettefest I hung with a guy that works for Mecum and agreed. He says that Barrett Jackson attracts the CA, Hollywood folks with deep pockets and when they want a car, they will pay whatever they have to out bid others. Nicholas Cage bought a '68 exactly like one he trained in for Gone In 60 Seconds. The car was worth around $40k but he bid it up to $61k because it was a car he wanted and let's face it, Nick Cage can foot the extra $20k to get what he wants. Personally I think that car is priced a bit high, even though it is desirable. I haven't seen too many C3s ever go that high at Bloomington Gold auction. These Corvette palces that fully restore always charge good coin though. I thikn their clients are guys with money who want one like new and not have to do a thing to it and for that luxury you best be willing to pay.

Supply and demand. There are only 600 something of those made.
I just called the dealer & talked to Bob Best. They have a web site at autocollections.com. They still have the car. No documentation,. He says it came from a museum of 200 cars. He said #'s match he thought but had not personally checked. Says it runs & drives perfect. They also have a '67 427/435 for 225k so their not a junk yard. Guy sounded straight. I'd go check it out if I was closer. The no doc. hurts it but 95k is a deal if you want a driver. Somebody ought to go look. He sounded like he might deal.
