Too bad we can't have a 150 thousand person conference call to straighten things out. I think maybe there should be a C3 section for supporting members only (even though I'm not one - yet). Maybe that way it would weed out all the goofballs and mudslingers.

You know Dep I had to read your reply a few times lol. But Dep is right. What you submit for weeding people out as you say is nothing more than a wall and we all know walls do not work it just makes things worse if anything. What really should be done is to lead by example and as posted in the start of this thread to inform people in a nice way of there error and try and steer them in the right direction. In this way everyone will benefit.

I think your sentiments are well founded. I've been around here for a long time and I've seen it change a lot. Some good, some bad. When I first started, I used to spend a lot of time in Off Topic. But it was just stupid and childish over there eventually....I can't even remember the last time I went there. Boring....

The engine section used to be a lot of fun.....it was almost pulled a couple of years ago. I was at the Cruise In at the group meeting and I stood up and made my plea. It worked and they even added my *quote* to the description...*Lunatic Hardcore Fringe*. But with so little traffic there...I bet they don't keep it much longer. I would love to see the *hardcore* questions on engines and drivetrains go back there. People found their questions answered seriously by people who enjoyed the tech side of things without all the fluff.

I spend most of my time in C-3 Tech, then C-3 then C-2. I touch on Drag Racing and Engine and that's it.

You can't imagine the friends I've made here. In fact, the vast majority of my current running group came directly from here. Our whole Forum Cruise In extravaganza each spring all came from chance meetings here. Since I travel a bunch, I've met lots of members. I'll send them a note when I'm going to be in their town. We'll go get a burger or a drink or whatever. Always fun. Besides the Forum, we have literally two *e-mail groups* going among our whole group where we banter back and forth daily off line. One is just a huge group from all over the country...the other is primarily a bunch from our sorta Vette club in Houston. That thing started as a joke..and just keeps growing. We meet for coffee/breakfast a couple of times a month, we have parties and help each other keep this junk running. It is also a *self help* support group of friends that take care of each other. There's been several times where some of *our group* have taken that extra step to helpout another Forum member whether it was car related or not. We've become friends.

The point of all that is, each of these folks wouldn't think twice aboutf doing the same for me. In fact several of them are going to my daughters wedding this weekend...she's even adopted them!!

So hopefully this gives you any idea of how much I like the comraderie we have here. Having fun is one thing....but simple courtesy and respect goes a long way. Just a mentioned above.....my parents gave me strong convictions in those areas.

The cars are just a neat way to get some folks together who would have otherwise never met!

I think you're dead on right.

See ya,

JIM

I would add I have met some great guys here.

The common thread is the love of the old beasts. That, we all share.

Hi Jim! Thanks a lot. I have been a member for 2 years and this post just made me realize there is an Engine mod section. I have always posted on the C3 Tech and performance section. Never visited the other because I didn't know it was there. Got a new visitor.

I haven't met anyone in person yet, though a couple locals have PM'd me and I hope to connect with them in the near future. I feel a part of a very large wonderful family with a common interest.
I have to say that the help I've recieved so far has been unbelieveable! Members have taken photos, made videos, posted scans etc... to help me. I am truly humbled by the generosity of time given to my questions. As time goes on and I get to know my vette better, I hope to be able to help more as well.
As far as bashing, there's always going to be a small element in any group this large. As far as I'm concerned any question is not dumb, because these cars are simple, yet have unique problems and any advice given is appreciated in my book.

Right there is the key to the whole city, mutual respect; I am a big fan of that principle.

And if anyone thinks I'm being disrespectful please feel free to let me know, chances are I've worded something wrong.

Opinions... I wonder how much strife could be avoided if they weren't allowed, just stick to the facts. I'd probably cut the post count down by 75%.

I have met a few forum brethren. Sam and Curt. Or, Batman and Curt74. Sam and Curt are both awesome guys. I would have never met either without this forum, and we all have so much in common that we were instantly friends after meeting. We all will do anything to help each other and it all started with a Vette.

As I read this, I shed tears as the feeling of love overwhelmed me
I know what you mean. I've met some incredibly helpful and friendly people here. I've tried to be that guy on a few occassions, as I was able to. You just don't seem to run into that in the real world or "out there" in comparison to here.

Stop being so disrespectful! Just kidding of course.
I agree with you, but I also feel that the opinions offered here are pretty darn interesting at times. At least in my opinion

I was working on my car in my garage, with the door opened one day.

Guy pulls into my driveway. Jumps out of his car, walks into the garage , introduces himself and I offer him a cold beer.

Says he couldn't help notice I was working on the corvette. I knew right off he was a corvette guy because the only thing in my garage was the bare frame. Two hours later, said he should get going!!

He put me on to this site. Thanks Wayne!!

Lot of good people on this site; try my hardest to be one of them.

Every once in a while we type with our fingers, not our heads ( oops, sorry )
