An opinion on what different people has had work or not work for them is not what I'm talking about. The kind of opinion I'm talking about in a tech instance would be If I was to be talking about quadrajet's and someone came in and just said that they are peices of junk and that I shouldn't use one. (That's kind of like a thread I was mixed up in a while back.)
Of course people will have different different opinions for what will/won't work as there are 20 million different ways to get the job done and we may have all learned differently. No problem with that.
The opinions I think we are trying to address here are the opinions that are not intended to be of help at all, but to stir things up. Those are the kind that wouldn't be of use in tech or any other thread. Unless, of course, we are talking OT.
Thanks for proving a point I brought up in an earlier post. What you meant and what you said are two entirely different things. Since most of us can't read your mind, we can only go with what you posted. Also, I see nothing wrong with calling a Quadrajet a piece of junk. Personally, based on my experiences with them, they ARE just that. Now that is my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Am I supposed to say a Quadrajet is a wonderful carburetor even though I've never had any luck with them? I don't think so. This is also related to people wearing their emotions on their sleeves. On a public forum you gotta toughen up. Calling a Quadrajet a piece of junk isn't a personal insult against you. It's just someone expressing his opinion about the carb.
And finally...you do know what they say about opinions...they are like buttholes...everyone has one and they usually stink
Go with that motto and opinions will no longer bother you.
The topic of this thread is the very reason I spend a lot less time on the forum.
But it's like my wife keeps telling me, "the beatings will continue until your attitude improves".
Dep. I have missed your humor.

I wasn't the one bothered in the quadrajet post (actually I started the post and was the one calling them junk), but a lot of people who responded to my post were offended (you should have seen it). But, yes, I do think that if someone were seeking advice on a quadrajunk and someone just stepped inside with no other intent than to call the carb in question a peice of junk then that is exactly the type of unwanted/undesired "opinion" that this thread is about. Luckily, I'm already aware that there are plenty of opinionated buttholes in here who want to do nothing more than disagree and bicker, so I take thier words for what they are worth. Some just aren't able to do that. Like I said earlier, even I like to "get involved" when there's an idiot making those kinds of remarks. It's just plain fun sometimes to put them in there place. I'm sure others would say shame on me, but oh well.

It is apparent that some people have just not matured much since high school and their sense of humor and muck-raking shows it. So IMHO, we can point this out, try to change the world, or accept them for what they are and move on.
Nice try though to Shake---

<sigh>....if that were only true!!!! (looking at my bald dome in the mirror).
Ahhhh...you must mean emotionally matured. Well, that is most likely true. When people reach and pass puberty, they are pretty much locked in to their sense of humor and personalities. And i don't think it's anyone's job or responsibility to change them either.
This is not the Corvette Psychology/Psychiatry Forum. We need to learn to just accept and enjoy people for the way they are, and not try and turn everyone into group-hugging same-thinking clones of each other. Again...folks also need to learn to toughen up on a forum.
You are sometimes going to get opinions or posts that don't agree. That isn't necessarily a bad thing.
this thread looks like a bunch of pathetic whiners to me.
Show me links to posts that are so terribly bad as to scarr you guys for life.
I thought the "do i look gay driving a yellow vette" was a hoot. You gotta remember this place is for entertainment as much as assistance.
Whiners abound here. But, I too have been scarred for life. So now I'm off to seek therapy. Too bad I missed the yellow vette thread. Must have been a good one. A question like that had to invite all kinds of creative "opinions" in.
You are either a whiner, an A**hole, or a helpful person. And some people are just schmucks
I myself have stepped over to the a**hole category. Mostly do in fact to other people being a**holes to me.
not mutually exclusive. I consider myself an a-hole and helpfull too. I just gave a guy advice on how to wire a welder and i'm thinking there's a good 50% chance he won't electrocute himself. Just doin my part.

If we got the 4 of us together face to face i wonder how many minutes it'd take before a fight broke out. I'd probably be the first to get the shiit kicked out of me.

Not therapy......Rehab. It's trendier and in vogue.
