With all of the above said, I agree that there is quite a bit of poor/inaccurate advice posted on the forum. BUT like someone said earlier, you have to have at least a foundation of automotive knowledge to fall back on. For the most part, I would say the good information far outways the bad. Take me for example. I've been turning wrenches for years on hot rods, but my '68 is the first vette I've ever owned. Now most everyone knows that a vette is a completely different animal than Chevelle, but most basic mechanical attributes are the same. Where the difference comes in is vette specific items like the vacuum system, suspension etc. I had no idea what I was getting into when I tore my corvette into a thousand pieces. I have posted many many threads seeking help, and have been extremely thankful for the help I've gotten. True I have gotten some advise that was absolutely rediculous (and I'm sure I have given some too), but I was able to weed through that.
It is aggravating to read the same "where can I buy the best crate motor" thread over and over and over and over and over, but I just ignore it. All in all the forum has been an enourmous help to me.

How can I tell if my lower (crank) timing gear is on all the way? (454)

I don't want the surprize of the chain rubbing against the cover when I finally get this thing all back together.
Thanks!

See, you seem to be distorting things as if I were maliciously misleading these people in order to hear myself type and watch my post count rise. Let me make this clear for everyone who's so thick headed they ignored the first hundred times I have said it.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT MY THREAD COUNT !!!

In this case I got that information from my engine builder when I was working on my first engine and I could not get things to line up right. The timing gear as seated properly but my crank pulley was 1/4" too deep to line up with the water pump pulley. He suggested I remove the crank bolt, pull it that 1/4" and reinstall that bolt.

Since then I have had to do that only twice, and I did so thinking it was fine. The dampener is pressed on, and the bolt secures it in. How was I to know this was incorrect?

In fact, on the two engines I did this to...guess how many have had problems? NONE. They are both fine and running still to this day. Give or take about six years. One a high mileage truck engine.

So, no, I am not misleading people on purpose, and me giving information from a teacher of knowledge is generally accepted as truth and can be passed on. In this case the guy was just teaching me a Bubba fix. I know better now, but can you at least understand the situation and how sometimes a truth seems fine until someone corrects you?

Let's just not be political correct and just say what there's to say, I'll start because I'm blunt anyway.....

Let's recite what you have done here....

You came on this forum, started posting in every thread wether the info was correct, accurate, relevant or any of that didn't matter. A true durango post tsunami!

Turning threads way off topic was no problem either. It was like a new guy walking into a conference room, jumping on the tables and starting screaming to draw attention to himself and trying to get everyone to like him, adore him and even praise him. This was quickly succeeded by the spawning of a multitude of "hail durango boy" "praise king durango boy" "all bow to the glorious durango boy" threads, threads that report insignificant achievements like a door panel install, a pop out rear window install. like you are the first to master these difficult tasks. It seems that there's a group of people who are constantly campaigning for you, why? maybe it's all a big plot? You help them and then they support you as their forum slaves, doing your every bidding???
We have never had something happen like that ever before, sure people post pics of their work done and families, no problem there... but there hasn't been a single person here who has been so full of himself who feels the need to post everywhere, post pics of himself, his gf (and then all those sad individuals getting all worked up, stroking their weeners over a picture.. PATHETIC!!) and what not everywhere and so on...and so on. And we sure have had (and still have) our fair share of post ****** who like to be in the spotlights...but as I said nothing like this. And quite frankly..I'm getting pretty fed up with it.

You do deserve some praise though, you single handedly destroyed the pleasure I got out of this forum, and I'm certain I'm not the only one. Some of these posts make me sick and nauseous, others furious...and even some other sad....real sad!

I'm sure you'll go all whiney and call in a mod (again) to help you..somehow they're always backing you... why? i don't know. Maybe you did some serious *** kissing. What amazes me is that the recent hostilities here all involve you, now, since you are the common denominator in all this bickering, why aren't they doing something about YOU? Why should 100 people suffer because 1 person can't control his behaviour online. If it was IRL someone in the conference room would have punched your lights out...too bad it can't be done here.

Well boys 'n girls... I'll probably end up in moderation now.....

I was gonna say...ummm...geez...things have gotten so flakey I have to get a lawyer to approve anything I say. I feel like a mafia guy at a Congressional hearing.
Guess I will do like the rest of the "family" and clam up.

No, your snotty, condescending tone does not go well with me at all. Answer me in a normal fashion, not like a daddy after a kid's temper tantrum.

But that's all it was. You see me as a big bad guy out to ruin your day and make you're experience here horrible. Problem is, you're doing this to yourself. I don't antagonize you or roust you or poke sarcastic remarks at you hoping to get a rise out of you. You're constantly a jerk to me, and I don't hate you for it. I have no hard feeling. If you want to vent and poke and call names then go ahead that's totally your choice. This problem you have with me is on you, not me.

TT & DB, alot of what both you guys have to say has merit ( slightly more one then the other but,,,) but dont you (either of you) think that maybe you should take it someplace else to discuss,,,,,,or is this a pizzin' match to pizz off everybody else? I think both of you guys are a major help to this forum ( again one more then the other ? ) and to see either of you sent to camp or to just leave here would be an enormous waste for the rest of us. Peace,,,Moosie

(again consulting with my attorney)...

I think 3rd party comments about what DB and TT should or should not do are not helping matters. Personally, I am not fond of "backroom deals". The air needs to be cleared, and if the need is felt to air their grievances publicly, that is their prerogative (until someone steps in who can stop them). And taking sides in the issue is NOT helping either party.

(attorney nods in agreement)

I'm not out to pick fights with anyone. I will stand my ground and defend my point but I tend not to fight with anyone. If I get attacked and they get a time out who's fault is that? I don't brag about myself and I don't preach a superiority to or over anyone. If someone assumes that that's their issue.

I never claimed to be smarter than anyone here and I don't assume that either. I'm here for one reason...this forum. The brotherhood we have here in C3 is amazing. So many people wanting to help and needing help. That's why I'm here...not to bicker with fellow members that have a problem with me.

(attorney quite agitated and yelling in my ear)

I request that I be left out of this discussion. I have already stepped too close to the fire and now have this friggin' attorney to deal with on every post. Thank you.
