You boys would be proud, here is what i am up to. On my 78,sometime
in its former life someone sent alot of time and not much effort on changing the interior from doeskin to red. Redyed the interior trim panels
back,turned out great.
Then i tackled the door panels, used some paint and decal remover from work to take off the red dye.
Now the problem---- every little spec of red that didn't come off
seems to bleed through.
Any one know of something i can use to neutralize the red to prevent this ??????
Did you wipe down the panels prior to redying? I think your problem is the previous dye, not the one that you're using now. Perhaps wiping them down with alcohol first would help but with the new dye on top, I'm not sure it'll help any more.
Call the auto paint supply store you got the dye from and ask them about a "sealer" that might be used under the dye [but not prevent the dye from adhering properly]. If they don't know, contact SEM [a reputable vinyl dye manufacturer]; they will likely know what to use. The paint store should have a contact number for SEM, or you could look it up on the internet.
